Atheists Seek Chaplain Role in Military

Post by The Protector »

I know this sounds like something from the Onion, but it was an actual headline from "the paper of record," the New York Times. Atheists in the military want to establish atheist chaplains to minister to members of their faith. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. Well, at least they are acknowledging that it's a faith....

Most atheist believe that atheism is not a beleif system or ideology, simple a denial of God. I however, do think it is a belief or else why would they believe it :pound:

How in the world would secular humanism bring comfort to a soldier at war?

Whatever they believe, this is one huge area where they should just butt out.

Atheism can not fill the inner desire to know the higher truth, as Paul said to the Greeks, we are all God's children, in darkness searching for him. atheists stop their search but some find that they can not fill that space with denial.

Maybe he doesn't have enough faith to be an atheist anymore? :pound:

Atheism is just like any other religion and is a protected "religion'' under the First Amendment.... In fact the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on the case Kaufman v McCaughtry. A Wisconsin prison inmate tried to form an atheist discussion group. Prison authorities refused and Kaufman sued. The court ruled that Atheism is a religion for "legal purposes".

Somebody should inform atheists about it, they don't know this, which is ironic

I am enlisting soon and to be completly honest, I would not like to be fighting with an atheist. As a christian I can truley say I do not fear death but as an atheist they do because they only get 1 life and thats it, thus promoting cowardice. They also lack moral or ethic codes which could lead to very big issues.

Honestly, If our country was not so politically correct I would ask to start a All-Christian division.... But I suppose the 75th ranger regement, Navy SEALS, and Airbourne fit that catigory to an extent (they all have patron saints, and atheist are mentally weak thus not allowing them to complete such courses).
