Lazarus, come forth (POETRY)

Post by Poetic_Soul »

Come forth

Clothed and wrapped
My sisters prepared the funeral services.
Mary sat in her puddle of tears.
Martha cried out all the more.
Both of them felt the betrayal of a friend.

The funeral services now over
Leaving the body to dwell in a cave
Sealed with a stone.

I saw the body that lay to rot.
The stench of it was unbearable.
Decayed within four days
The body laid to rest.
Earthworms can smell their next meal.

While friends of the family stayed to mourn.
I adorned the promises of the Living God.
I walked in the brilliancy of every precious gem.
I danced to the harmony of angels.
I was engulfed with the riches of everlasting to everlasting.
Nothing could compare to the beauty that was bestowed upon me.

I walked among creatures never seen.
I drank from the rivers Euphrates
And tasted the sweetest water never known.
In the mist of the rivers lies a tree
That offers a variety of fruit.
I dwelled in the mist of Gods abode
And felt the connection of His love.
I plucked from the Tree of Life
And was on the verge of tasting the sweetest of nectars
Until I heard the voice of Jesus
Shouting…Lazarus, come forth.
Bringing me back into that dark tomb
That my sister had prepared for me.

Men have loosened my garments.
Squinting my eyes from the brightness of the sun
I looked and stood before me was a congregation
Giving pure reverence to the God of Abraham.

I'm suddenly feeling the wet kisses from my sisters.
And looking over the shoulders of my two sisters
There stood Christ weeping.
Not realizing that I
Have just become that miracle.
That miracle which engraved the name of the Lord
On many of men's hearts.
That miracle which has written in stone
How God is of the living and not of the dead.
That miracle in which I will forever claim a testimony
Not just from the blessing of a resurrection
But of deaths doorway to heaven.
Yes, I have become that miracle
That brought forth life
To men who needed concrete evidence of the Messiah
And brought forth the cross
To the Messiah
Who just validated his life in Ciaiphas' hands.

I guess it's good. :) Can't really get into poems that don't rythme much.
