Re: Homosexuality
I don't think "homosexual" activity in animals actually comes from any sexual attraction. That is, what we would think is homosexual behavior often turns out to be other things that we have no idea about (rituals, general communication, etc.) . We simply think of why we would do something ...

Re: Homosexuality
Guess I'm not the best person to give an answer since I'm of the belief that we did evolve from animals, and that homosexuality is NOT a choice. :P I didn't know that... that you were an theistic evolutionist. I'm just wondering, I've always wanted to ask for evidence for that theory but sometimes ...

Anybody see the new page? It seems to answer this question fairly well. And at the same time it says that to answer it you need an omnipotent being.

Re: Hawking - Spontaneous Creation
I want to know if my understanding of Hawking's theory is correct: the laws of gravity designate and even force the universe to keep a constant balance, not to be outweighed from negative or positive energy, and because of these laws, it is impossible to have a purely empty space, and so the univer...

Re: God's forgiveness of the most evil
Think of the most "evil" person you can think of in history, or who you can conjure up in your imagination. Take Hitler, for example, who was responsible for the deaths of millions, or Dr. Mengele and his experimentation on live human beings, or imagine a human being who is essentially Sa...

I'm not exactly privy on the whole space science act, but I want to know if my understanding of Hawking's theory is correct: the laws of gravity designate and even force the universe to keep a constant balance, not to be outweighed from negative or positive energy, and because of these laws, it is ...

Re: David and Johnathan in Samuel
Opinions? Just platonic? Or is it romantic? It seriously made me cry the first time I read it... the beauty of their relationship whatever level it may be at... it still had some of the most beautiful quotes. y@};- Nope, they were friends, as we can see by this description: "better than the lo...

Oh. That would be funny if it was a joke. I thought it was.DannyM wrote:What a load of garbage. Dawkins. Wikipedia. Strong. Weak.
Unbelievable.
Outside of the context though I would agree.

Re: Hawking - Spontaneous Creation
Yeah, it's quite nice, but Hawking never really tells us why there was gravity (or any law for that matter) in the first place.

Re: Laws of an Atheist Utopia
Moral? By what measure?
It's true, atheists stole the idea of morality from religion.

Re: unreasonablefaith.com
I found the site a couple of weeks ago. I think it should be called "A collection of standard false atheist converts arguments". Was rather interesting actually, in some sense. Nothing new though in terms of arguments.

Re: Hawking - Spontaneous Creation
Yup, I agree - the only suitable definition for true nothing I have found is "what rocks dream of". So when someone starts talking about nothing, I would ask them if this definition is fitting.

Re: Politics Thread
It used to be if a tax person say donated 10 million out of their 100 millino salary, the 10 million would not be taxed, or you could say they would only be taxed for 90 million. Many rich people did this to lower their taxes My guess is someone found a way to abuse this system (like say, donating ...

Thank you so much for moving this away from the Christian Genocide thread  And on the topic, he wealth(2%) pay 35% of all taxes, the bottom(25%) pays under 5%. This itself should show you we are already heavily taxing the upper class, all new taxes would do to them is 1) invest less 2)dona...

Re: "Don't pray for Japan"
All social statistics I've seen indicate that people of faith send money more often and in larger amounts than atheists do. That doesn't diminish the statements but it suggests that atheists in general practically do less for those who are suffering. Ayn Rand's objectivism (a form of atheism which ...
