ghosts

If you believe ghosts are really spirits of dead people then you must believe that either when a person dies they do not go directly to heaven or hell, or that a dead person may leave heaven or hell and return to earth. Both of these are unscriptural so I would believe that 'ghosts' are some sort of...

These are the liner notes in my Bible - "As reckoned by the law the son of Joseph, but in reality He was the Son of God and Mary. Joseph was begotten by Jacob and was his natural son (Mt 1:16). He was the legal son or son-in-law of Heli, having married Mary the daughter of Heli. It does not say...

You said, "In fact, in the first couple days of creation we have no basis for determining "day" in any way which resembles the 24-hour conception." That is only true if you do not think it is a literal day. Objectively, it is easy to translate it that way. Most times in the OT th...

Why is it so hard to believe that God made the moon and stars and everything else? Look at the alternative, they were just always there ( or the material from which they formed themselves ). To me both are a step of faith. You either have to believe that God formed them from nothing, they formed the...

magic

There used to be a magician that went by the name The Amazing Randi. He claimed all magic and mental telepathy was just trickery and that he could reproduce any magic trick or act of mental telepathy. He was fun to watch because he did do them all.

Not being catholic I could be mistaken on some of these. Two of the differences are in the idea of purgatory, praying to saints instead of Jesus. Someone who is Catholic may be able to clarify.

r7-12 - I'm not surprised you don't want to carry on a discussion of the NWT, that's the response I got from the JW's that visited me. I asked them who translated the NWT and they said they didn't know, because the men asked to remain anonymous. I then asked how they could possibly believe a transla...

There are many ancient texts that are mentioned in older writings and many that we have parts of. While looking for these once I found a new word, Pseudepigrapha. These are books that are attributed to people in the Bible, like the book of Adam. Search that word and I think you'll find many interest...

NWT

R7-12 is obviously a Jehovah's Witness. No one else would consider the NWT accurate. It has been changed in many places to fit their doctrine, JOhn 1:1 being one case. The Greek grammar is specific, the word was God is correct, not the word was a god, as the NWT incorrectly translates. There are man...

GEn 6:17 - And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die The Hebrew word for earth here is most commonly understood to mean the entire earth, not just part of i...

You both seem to not care about the content of the games. It probably will not turn either of you into criminals but it will desensitize you to these things so that you will not feel it quite as bad if others do it. Advertising on TV works the same way. Very few commercials actually tell you about t...

I have been through this argument with others before. It is difficult to keep on topic and understandable with a long list of supposed contradictions. The post just gets too long. Choose one, and I will try to explain it. After that we are both satisfied, try another. It is just too unweildly to try...
