Re: Pagan Christianity

Age, Unfortunately, another WillyG. I wish I could put on a concert! :-) I may be naive. But what I described has not led me or others astray (as far as I can discern) over the past several years of meeting. Satan does prowl about like a lion, but he is not God's equal. We can't go wrong trusting i...

Re: Pagan Christianity

Age, You'll certainly hear no disagreement from me regarding the need for a Shepherd to tend to His flock. But if we usurp that role, or give in to the temptation to institutionalize it, we risk making ourselves the head of the Church rather than allowing Jesus to be the Head. In such circumstances...

Re: Missionary said something interesting

The impression I was getting from this missionary lady was that as Christians we had a chance to enter heaven but it wasn't ensured. I know we've discussed this at length but I'm just trying to get my mind around why this very spiritual lady who gave up everything to follow Christ to Africa and wor...

Re: 100,000,000 to 150,000,000 street children in the world.

I see. So you are saying it is GOOD for the 100,000,000 street children that they are destitute, parentless, and living in the streets being exploited because it's for their own GOOD and that therefore naturally it would be better if all children were tossed into the streets so they would be drawn t...

Re: Missionary said something interesting

Yes cslewis I did take it that way and Muslims certainly have to grapple with the lack of satisfactory assurance of salvation in their belief system. I would add that following a false prophet who deceived his followers about the divinity of Christ would naturally bring about that uncertainty. I fin...

Re: Pagan Christianity

This is an important discussion. Thanks Will, Canuck, all for your comments. I really think the next great sweeping revival, if it comes at all, will have to come from a move of God operating in a different institutional structure than we have in place today; a structure that is currently overseeing...

Re: Missionary said something interesting

The more I reflect on it the more I think Byblos might be right in that is what she meant. She is surrounded by non-believers building a believing community. She's probably said that many many times to the people she ministers too in those non-believing communities. I think we've solved the riddle. ...

Missionary said something interesting

An evangelical missionary from Africa came to our church and stated that, as Christians, we had a "chance" to enter into heaven.

Hmm... comments?

Re: I Have Never Experienced God Personally

I've been out of traditional church for the past 8 months. In that time, I've been taking a little time to "detox" as it were from the idea that Christian fellowship and service is mostly passively sitting in a service watching other people perform and being spoon fed shallow pablum from ...

100,000,000 to 150,000,000 street children in the world.

Street children is a term used to refer to children who live on the streets of a city. They are basically deprived of family care and protection. Most children on the streets are between the ages of about 5 and 17 years old. They are used for sex in Russia and have to endure those freezing winters, ...

I'm not a member of either party Zoe. I'm an independent and registered in California with a party that is independent. I blame every citizen and every politician that actively resist getting adequate medical care available to all American citizens. This includes Blue Dog Democrats and Republicans. ...

Re: Pagan Christianity

Ok fine. The book is on its way. I see you understand the necessity of organization and like me long for organization that yields much better results than we are seeing with the current model (e.g. assembly with cell groups value added). The problem though really transcends organization and I think ...
