Easy math problem
It's the time of the month that I allow my wife out of the basement for good behavior. So, we are staying in a condo near Destin, FL.
So, here's the simple math problem. First one who correctly answers, gets a fruitcake emoticon as reward.
We left our home near Jacksonville, FL at 7:35 AM. After stopping a couple of times, we arrived at our condo at 12:05 PM. How long did the trip take?

I see math is not a strong suit of Canadians.
Anyone else?

Define "trip".RickD wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 1:30 pmIt's the time of the month that I allow my wife out of the basement for good behavior. So, we are staying in a condo near Destin, FL.

Actual moving time or overall?
If the latter, I would guess the answer is 4.5 hrs according to your timings.

How many restrooms are along the way...you are getting a wee bit old Rick and those bathroom breaks would slow anyone down at your age!

"Too long."
And whose "time of month" is it we're speaking of - as that could be a crucial variable in the question!

Unless the trip doesn't include breaks, but that is an unknown variable I'll call X.

Nobody has guessed correctly.
Is anyone worthy of the fruitcake emoticon?
Surely you all aren't idiots?

Re: Easy math problem
All info needed to find the correct answer, is in the original post.
This is a real life question. When someone gets the correct answer, I'll explain why it kinda freaked me out a little. It's not something I've ever experienced, and frankly, had never even thought of until it happened.
Anyone who does any cross country driving may understand.

I assure you that there's no physics of any kind, involved in getting the answer.

Since you are travelling from the Eastern Time Zone to the Central Time Zone, I'd say 5.5 hours.
Does this mean that I'm a fruitcake?

We have a winnar!
That's the first time in my life that I've driven into a different time zone. As soon as I passed the sign indicating central time zone, our iPhone clocks went back an hour. For a brief moment, I was living the life of Marty McFly!

Gotta admit, I never realized that the time zone angled down across that part of FL - I'd always assumed all of the state was on EST.
