The Snopes article references old claims about this. The writer who began writing for SS in '84 just revealed this. Course, what he was thinking and what he wrote as scripts were not in any way obvious - as NPR would have nixed it. But the REAL agenda is shown by the writer saying this NOW, as it changes nothing about the kid program or how it has mostly been perceived over the years.

The creator (forget his name now) says they're not gay. He designed them as best friends, not as a gay couple

According to wikipedia, Bert is attracted to women, which either means he's straight, pansexual, or bi.
Personally, I'm waiting for when they come out with transgender puppets, because it's 2018 now.
The creators of sesame street say muppets can't have a sexual orientation anyway, probably because they lack reproductive organs.

The idea that Bert and Ernie are gay, comes from a writer that began writing for Sesame Street in 1983 or 1984. He's the one who said he's writing them as a gay couple.
Which to me, makes no sense. I though people/muppets cannot change their sexuality.

Bert and Ernie clearly have left the Republican Party, and are fitting in nicely with the transgender movement on the left.

Come on THEY ARE MUPPETS they don't need to be homosexual! They have always been roommates.
Btw, I recall going to my first church when I was close to 3. In it, Ernie was there for the kids.
