It can also create a mess. Some people get annoyed, throw a hissy fit and then would remove all their posts making a mess of threads.
If you post, and people respond to your post, then it should remain.
Otherwise it makes threads difficult to follow.

Some people do this with edits, but it's more troublesome.
And if edits became abused, well then that would need to be removed too.
So don't abuse your editing too much Nessa. That's warning #1. ;) ;)
