Of course he's right that we need to reopen the economy. That's not really even open to debate. The only issue is precisely when, and whether we should listen to the scientists or to the business leaders then we pick a date. The consensus, which I think the scientific community has signed off on, seems to be that we should start cautiously moving in that direction in about 2 weeks.

I think the most likely result of these pseudo-protests will be that over the next couple of weeks we'll start seeing Covid-19 outbreaks in small towns that it hadn't reached previously. That would be a tragedy, and all the more so for being pointless. It might even slow down our emergence from self-isolation, and wouldn't that be a hell of an irony...?

Yes. My wife and I found a way to have sex while keeping 6 feet apart.

I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say that it would be “a tragedy” to have a covid-19 outbreak in small towns as a result of the protests by trumpanzees. Have you seen those yahoos? None of the demonstrators were respecting social distancing. One guy being interviewed was carrying an assault weapon and had a handgun in a holster as well. He told the interviewer, “I’m more ascared of the govermint than of the vye-rus!” Any sane person should be afraid of people like him...but he was being cheered on. There were lots of people at the demonstration I saw on the news. Not one of the people interviewed seemed sensible. Maybe the media went out of its way to show fools dressed in flags and yelling Freeeedom! ...maybe, but I’m not sure. Call me heartless but a robust case of covid -19 might knock some sense into these people.

I agree that a bad case of Covid-19 would be poetic justice for some of those clowns, but most of them don't appear to belong to high risk groups. The tragedy would be some of those morons catching the virus without knowing it and then transmitting it to their parents, grandparents, or neighbors. If that gun-toting imbecile gets Covid-19 then I guess he had it coming, but I can't say the same for some old guy he breathes on at the grocery store back home.

That's the big risk, and that's why the behavior of both the protestors and the politicians and media personalities supporting them is reprehensible rather than just dumb. They're gambling with other people's' lives, not just their own.

I would never wish covid 19 symptoms on anyone, even libtards.

I wouldn't either, but thinking that it would be poetic justice if they caught the virus isn't the same as hoping they get sick.
poetic justice

noun

the fact of experiencing a fitting or deserved retribution for one's actions.
I can't think of a better example of poetic justice than getting sick while you're out attending a rally to protest a stay at home order means to curtail the spread of a highly contagious disease.

Gronkowski just got traded to Tampa.

Huh.

I guess that worked out pretty well for the Pats all in all. They got a 4th round pick for a retired guy that would never have played for them again. It'll be interesting to see what happens in Florida, assuming there's a football season this year. Brady's the Brady and all, but let's face it - he stopped being a superstar and became a game manager a few years back. Gronk is superhuman when he's healthy, but he also has problems with his back, shoulder, arm, and knee. The rest he's had ought to help him, but he's driving in a demolition derby on a busted up chassis. The Bucs will be lucky to get 10 games out of him, but if it's the right 10 then they'll hoist the Lombardi.

I don't mind the Bucs, really. I rooted for them back when they were in the old NFC Central. I was living in Minnesota at the time, and I've always hated the Vikings. No idea why, but I've had a bone deep loathing for that franchise since I was a kid. Anyway, the Pats were terrible and football is more interesting if you're following a team with a chance to accomplish something - in addition to your awful home team, of course.

Whatever happens, it ought to be entertaining.

You’re too nice. So is Edward. Ed’s right when he suggests that a covid-19-infected, righteous trumpanzee carrying his AK-47 to Walmart for protection could infect one of the senior citizens working there. I didn’t think of that.

I have to work on becoming a nicer human being.

A French Canadian working to be a nicer person, is like Trump working to be humble. Wishful thinking, but it ain’t gonna happen.

On a more serious note, do you pack heat when you shop at Walmart?

Only when my wife is having hot flashes.

Only about 10 minutes between these posts, Rick didn’t have to take long to think of this. Now THAT is wit.
