Yes to both. We feel someone's pain because we care.

We empathize with others because we care.

We care because we love.

We could even say feeling pain and empathizing is practically the same.

Love, my mom says, is what you do when you see a sink full of dirty dishes.

When I see a sink full of dirty dishes, I get the dishwasher/wife going.

:dig: :bag:

Edit:
I just bought her a new white apron to wear when washing dishes. You have to have the dishwasher match the rest of the appliances. :fryingpan:

The truest expression of love is the love that is centered on others.
Compassion being the truest expression of that love.
To put the feeling of others, the hopes of others before your own not because you have to, not because you want something in return but simply because you love.
That is love.

That's why I always let my wife have the pleasure of washing dishes.

I get quite annoyed when they're in the sink.
It's just a trap waiting for you to wash your hands / rinse food or the like,
only to have water splash up all over you. That's not love, that's evil.

Getting annoyed is some of that self -indulgence that not everyone likes to hear about.

My wife did. I told her, there's no space for it. She complained and moaned and I said ok, you can arrange the plumber and work out where to put it. So she bought a very nice one for a couple grand. We've had it for 8 years, never been installed. She blames me for allowing her to get it. Her excuse. She was pregnant and I should have known better.

Oh, and unless we got a kitchen reno, there just isn't any room for it. And it's all easy to say well then do one, then it is to do in with everything else. Trademen suck in this area too. It's almost impossible to get quote. Even accepted one, and didn't hear back, like wt? Never buy a rental house thinking you can do it up, not if you have kids or are about to pop them out.

We'll be moving though, then it'll all be good!

In this case Audie I actually mean it quite literally
And I guess there is always an undercurrent of a metaphorical element :ewink:
We are a family of six. I bust my guts to cook and give my kids and husband good, wholesome, home cooked food.
I expect them to pick up some of the slack.

My Mom never once said the words "I love you" to me, and I dont think she ever will.
I dont say it to her. Words are cheap, and its just not our culture to say it.

In words, that is. it is something you show ever day, by your actions.
