Good material Rich.

Extreme forms of religion within Islam and Christianity have contributed to violence and wars but this is hardly the basis for most wars. The stated reasons for wars themselves are not always the underlying reasons which usually just boil down to human nature and socio-economic domination.

Ironically, the presecribed means of combating religion in the views of some of these evangelizing atheists is to use the power of the state to suppress religion, reduce parental control and impose their views upon others. There's little difference in the means and zealousness of that approach than that which they are denouncing.
Dogmatism is the comfortable intellectual framework of self-righteousness. Self-righteousness is more decadent than the worst sexual sin. ~ Dan Allender
