Regarding the Trinity

Post by Different_Name »

I know this is a super complicated subject but I want to try to settle a few things.

We have a few different terms referring to God, such as God, LORD, Yahweh/Jehovah, Lord, Jesus, and there are plenty of others.

I was wondering when those terms refer to the entire trinity and when they refer to a particular person of the trinity. Obviously, when we hear Jesus, that refers to the Son part of the trinity. Father and Holy Spirit are the same. What confuses me a little bit is how "God" sometimes seems to refer to just the Father. Also, when the tetragrammaton is used, does that refer to the entire trinity? For example, in Romans 10:9, it talks about confessing that "Jesus is Lord". If Lord refers to God's divine name in that context, then that would mean that Jesus = Father, Son, & Holy Spirit, which isn't right. So does that imply that "Lord" in that context refers just to lord as in ruler?

There's a thread that BW did a lot of work on this subject.

BW,
Can you dig that up and link it?

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT DWELLS INSIDE OF THOSE WHO BELIEVE:

1 John 3:24
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"WHEN THEY DELIVER YOU UP, TAKE NO THOUGHT HOW OR WHAT YE SHALL SPEAK FOR...IT IS:

GOD THE FATHER - that speaketh in you - Matthew 10:19-20

JESUS, GOD THE SON - that speaketh in you - Luke 21:12-15

GOD THE HOLY GHOST - that speaketh in you - Mark 13:11
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, AND THE WORD WAS GOD ... and THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH and dwelt amng us..." (John 1:1 & 14)

JESUS SAID: "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30). - "...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father..." (John 14:9). - "...if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also" (John 8:19). -

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED Wonderful, Counsellor, THE MIGHTY GOD, The EVERLASTING FATHER, The PRINCE OF PEACE.

John14:27
PEACE I leave with you, MY PEACE I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Although the word "trinity" is not in the Bible, there is so MUCH MORE stated in the Word of God that PROVES that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are ONE.
