So, who's listening to some interesting tunes?

Lately I've been jamming to a lot of Steely Dan as well as the solo albums "The Nightfly" and "Morph the Cat" by their singer and piano player, Donald Fagan.
I've also discovered the lost wonder that is jazz music, especially Herbie Hancock's album "Head Hunters" and Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue".

How about yourself Stygian? :)

Agh, Steely Dan, sorry they just put me to sleep. I even saw 2 tribute bands in concert and believe it or not, the tribute bands were better than the originals (but they still put me to sleep).

I constantly listen to something. I spend at least 2-3 hours a day listening to music, plus I often let it run in the background while I do something. I don't play any instruments though - I might take one up in the future.

I listen to a wide range of genres and time periods. Some of the oldest tunes in my collection are the works of Johann Strauss Jr. Especially the Blue Danube and Kaiser-Walzer. I mean listen to this perfection.

I also like the 1950s and 1980s in the terms of music. The former, because of old-fashioned ballads and the first wave of rock 'n' roll (Elvis Presley, need I say more?), the latter because of an unimaginable diversity in music - virtually all genres were played, and played well. I prefer the New Romantic genre, and Italo Disco. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqgWynH5A-M

Finally, I listen to Croatian music, of course, and artists from the former Yugoslavia. There were some quality works in the 70s and 80s. If there is some interest, I'll post a few.

I listen to a variety of music most of the time, but lately I've been listening to one of my favorite bands, Meg & Dia. They recently posted all of their albums for free (and have since put them back up for regular price), so I downloaded a few that I didn't have. I've been a happy clam since :)

Whaaaa? y:O2 Steely's song's lyrics and instrumentals are some of the best I've ever heard, especially on the album "Aja"!
Madness I say! Balderdash!

Though I also enjoy the whole Nine Inch Nails catalouge. Now if THAT puts you to sleep...

I've been getting really interested in Renaissance era music.
Non e gran causa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbB8XCfrKfU
Tempus est iocundum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDYVmKzU9RU

In general, I've been sorta jumping around in terms of music.
"Red Streaking Into Water" by R. Carlos Nakai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSlVL_DflJ0
"Glanfaidh mé" by Kíla: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8UGp-s7Auo

And from what is possibly my ALL-TIME FAVORITE ALBUM:
"The Antikythera Mechanism" by BT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKcAfkkipKU

Oh you are pulling my heart strings... I've always been a hard core Steely Dan, Donald Fagan fan.. Some of the best music ever produced. By the way did you know he was Jewish?

As for me I've been listening a lot to the Sunburst's band new CD called "The Secret Life of Us" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZhOA7LufA4

The Sunburst band has some real powerful music.

Another CD that I really like is Incognito's "Surreal". Progressive jazz at it's finest... And strong bass.

I'm with seraph on this... AJA is out of this world.. Some of the strongest music ever produced. Way ahead of it's time. :P I've seen them in concert many times...

In terms of Christian music, one of my favorite (who I've been listening to a lot so recently since their new album is out) is Future of Forestry.

Lol, sorry Seraph, perhaps by virtue of being born and raised in a different place and era (Middle East in the 60s & 70s) had some influence on the genre of music I prefer. It's actually rather boring (to most), I'm just a classic Rock fella from AC/DC to Aerosmith, KISS, Journey, Foreigner, etc. etc. with some country rock put in the mix (the likes of CCR). (I'm also a closet disco lover but let's not mention that too loud ok? 8) ).
