Lent

Post by Danieltwotwenty »

Tomorrow is Lent, what are you giving up?

I am going to stop drinking beer for the lent period.

Dan
1Tim1:15-17
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.Amen.

I'm not Catholic, but I gave up picking my belly button for lint.

I thought we are all Catholic, just not RCC.

I think it's a nice thing to do to express your love and recognise the sacrifice Jesus made by making a sacrifice ourselves.

I found this gem on reddit.

"I'm not sure why he has retired, but Benedict has set a really high bar for giving up something for Lent." :pound:

Rather then leaving beer for 40 days, why not give food to a homeless instead?
It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.

I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.
Death by starvation is a terrible thing, Goodsir, continued Stanley.
And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night
without.

That's a fantastic idea Neo, I could give up beer and donate the money reserved for beer and give it to the local food bank.

Here's Daniel's story:
A bartender notices that every evening, without fail, one of his patrons(Daniel) orders three beers. After several weeks of noticing this pattern, the bartender asks the man why he always orders three beers. The man says, “I have two brothers who have moved away to different countries. We promised each other that we would always order an extra two beers whenever we drank as a way of keeping up the family bond.” Several weeks later, noticing that the man only ordered two beers, the bartender said, “Please accept my condolences on the death of one of your brothers. You know, the two beers and all…” The man replied, “You’ll be happy to hear that my two brothers are alive and well… It’s just that I, myself, have decided to give up drinking for Lent.”

Maybe I should give up bad jokes for lent. y:-?
But then I'd have nothing to say. :pound:

Rick, you and having nothing to say? What a joke. :)
