Sinning in Dreams

Hi.

If you sin in your dreams - is that sinning in reality?

Actually i don't think so, i think if you do "sin" in your dreams its more of what's in your mind or what as come across it for example is stuff that you enjoy or hate or even stuff that you took particular notice when you're awake , so that if you ever do "sin" in your dreams i think its a testimony to your/our sinful hearts. But Noah if what you say is true then why is it only lust that is sinful in dreams? What about when im having a dream where i'm fighting with some one and i kill him or i'm lying not to get in trouble?

I would say no, simply because that in our dreams we are not consciously deciding....however, that being said, we dream oftentimes of what we think about, do, say, more often that other things. So sometimes we dream about people, dream about doing something, because we focused much of our brain on that and thus it carried to our dreams.

I think this is an excellent example of Philippians "whatever is true, noble, righteous...think on these things" because the more we entertain these thoughts, the more they are with us....so if our thoughts are on more sinful theings, then that would certianly carry through to our sleep. Of course dreaming of sinning is simply inevitable to some degree because we are sinful.

The only time I have such dreams is if I sin beforehand while awake--and they are about the same thing.

I think, if our dreams represent what we generally hold in our minds and hearts then we need to check if it is alright with the Word of God, for lust you an say because Jesus expressibly commanded not to have vile thoughts. But then again I would say that we remember that out bodies are for God and whatever in it should be as glorifying to God as can be done. Let us look at the scripture,

Psalm 26:2
Test me, O LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind;

Psalm 17:3
Though you probe my heart and examine me at night, though you test me, you will find nothing; I have resolved that my mouth will not sin.

Psalm 139:1-2
O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off

Psalm 19:12-14
Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 139:23-24

We can say that if our thoughts and general behavior are ruling our dreams then we need to make sure that we consciously do not allow sin to enter in our life or our thoughts, because then sin resides in us, one way or the other. The lord is holy and remember he lives in a holy place. you can't have godliness and impurity ruling side by side, one would always prevail the other. You can't have two masters. King David clearly talks about sins that we may not even know rests in our thoughts we should always ask the lord to show us our weaknesses.

I don't think it's a sin. Your probably just role playing a fantasy, and I could be wrong but giving your mind free reign to live out that fantasy gives you an outlet and makes it less likely that you'll actually commit the sin. Don't let it shake you.

Completely disagree. Fantasy does not prevent the actual sin, it usually make you more likely to in.

You should not encourage sinful thoughts.....

this is the unconcious mind we're talking about. One of the main things it does is produce fantasy's. Well let's ask the poster do you feel like you had an outlet and are less likely to commit the act? or are you entrigiud and inspired to commit the act? This is interesting, I've never done a bad thing in a dream other then like be aggresive sexually.

Dreams are the result of what we think. If we are thinking it during the day we are more likely to dream it. So there is a very clear link between the conscious and subconscious.

Kevin, you a used a bad drug that alter your mind severely - you need help... That drug has severe side effects that last a long time --

repeating messages doesn't do any help, the time flys by so fast. God recoginizes us so well. Nothing evaporates us into something. Helping someone goes into the golden goose. We''ll all be found. Drugs aren't a bottimless pit.

You generally dream about things you do not have thus dreaming about sin means that you are without that certain sin
