South Park - Anti-God?
Okay, so in my own watching of this t.v. series, South Park has a lot of religious base in it, however they make fun of it and they bash it, and they even throw in things like "Heaven is an imagined concept to make us feel better, the real Heaven is here on earth", so basically and obviously, the creators of South Park are atheists, why else would they put religion in their shows and then make fun of it to such a degree? I believe it is Kyle, Stan, Kenny, and Cartman that always shows how religious things are made up using scientific means to debunk it. Like Heaven, Hell, God/Jesus/Holy Spirit, Church, and so on.
Do you think South Park is anti-God?

Yes, but I watch it. I am waiting to see if I will get a pool from God to stop watching it.
Saw a Discovery Channel special on Jesus' Tomb that really burned me up...talking about "Would the peasant from Galilee have wanted to be worshiped? The meaning of his message was in his life, not his death." "There is evidence and secrets in the bible to suggest that Jesus' body was stolen by his followers (taking scripture out of context)."
Similar stuff to South Park. It's the devil's way of working through people to deceive everyone. If we can take the focus off of Jesus' divinity and paint him as a "good person", we can get a lot more people lost.

Well, I guess they use religion for humor in the show, but thats just it, humor. I like the show and the it wont decieve me or make me "lost" or anything... Im not sure about anti-God, but the show definetly isnt meant to promote any religion.
The only thing Im not so cool with is the way they sometimes portray God and Jesus. In the show, God is a hippo/lion/monkey/Buddhist and heaven consists only of Mormons... Jesus is like a man on earth and has his own tv show. in one episode, Satan fights Jesus in a boxing match and pretty much beats him (although Jesus wins after Satan takes a dive, to gain money).
But of course, its just comedy, the show isnt meant to be taken serious, so I dont take it seriously.
I'm not sure what to vote for, especially with the (I lack intelligenge or have issues). I guess its sort of anti-God, but I still like the show (doesnt mean IM anti-God), dont know what to vote for.

Rice is great if you're really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.

Would God have a sense of humor about the two Jewish creators of South Park that aren't obviously practicing religion whilst they offend and mock certain main religions?numeral2_5 wrote:You are lacking one important choice and it is mine.
No, and I don't support the show.
I oughta think God would have a good sense of humor about himself.

You could also claim that the show is anti-environmentalist because they promote the image of anyone with a concern for the environment as a "dirty hippy" type. You could claim it's anti-child welfare because they mock efforts to feed children in Africa. You could claim it's anti-science because they promote the image of the local geneticist as a crazy, mad scientist type who randomly combines different animals. You could claim it's "anti-handicap" because of their portrayal of people with physical and mental handicaps.Okay, so in my own watching of this t.v. series, South Park has a lot of religious base in it, however they make fun of it and they bash it, and they even throw in things like "Heaven is an imagined concept to make us feel better, the real Heaven is here on earth", so basically and obviously, the creators of South Park are atheists, why else would they put religion in their shows and then make fun of it to such a degree? You could also realize that the show mocks, degrades, insults, etc. just about any group imaginable, not just those who believe in God. If you want to consider it anti-God, you should also be willing to say it's anti-science, anti-environmentalism, anti-human rights, etc. It is therefore equally offensive to many groups, which may help people lighten up and not look at everything in a self-centered fashion.

Anti-God, God didn't let these things you mentioned come into existence? By saying Anti-God, I am saying all things, not certain things .thereal wrote:You could also claim that the show is anti-environmentalist because they promote the image of anyone with a concern for the environment as a "dirty hippy" type. The creators of southpark are not atiests. i bet you watched one episode and based your opinion off of that (which so many "christians" do) the show has issues... but it's not all that bad. they make light of a touchy subject, and they are rite for doing so.too many people ARGUE over something that is to be a beautiful thing such as God. besides, i dont know any other cartoon that would even THINK of putting jesus in the show.
Look at the episode with the catholic church. they touched on a subject that was in the news about priests messing with little boys... and it showed that not all priests are like that... and they want it to stop. it's an overall good show, very misunderstood. i admit that some of the content is a little overboard. but look past the fart jokes or the fact that they kill kenny every episode. most episodes have a great message that most "christians" are "too good" to see...

2Co 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themseves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
