Re: Bible not from god?
I can honestly tell you that you will not "convince" any skeptic or atheists that the bible is God's word and inspired because the BIBLE SAYS SO. Any argument based from that point is already lost. Sorry. So what? Do you think you’ll convince the atheist by any other means? I used to thin...

Re: Do you ever feel helpless against atheists?
I love debating and discussing religion with atheists that are intelligent and have at least SOME knowledge of religion, not just a few google searches under their belts. One thing that must always be made clear with any debate about God is the difference between Evidence and Proof. There may be no ...

Re: Talking to a Jehovah's Witness
Well, he did say that : There are no such things as homosexual animals, because, by the definition of homosexuality, animals are excluded. Homosexuality is solely human by definition. Sometimes the simple answer is the best answer. Sometimes we tend to overcomplicate things, when we don't need to. A...

Re: Talking to a Jehovah's Witness
I think he was trying to point out that the "homo" in Homosexual has nothing to do with the human genre.

Re: Does This Sound Loving?
There is an interesting book by Paul Copland called " Is God a Moral Monster" that attempts to answer the issues of a seemingly violent and bloodthirsty OT God.
I don't recall ANY such book done about Allah by any muslim.
Food for thought no?

Re: Salvation
It is an issue of INTENT it seems and I believe that is what Paul was focusing on. The intent of works. Do people do the works of love out of love or for recompense? for salvation? Does one pray and worship God because they want to be saved or because they love God? First comes love and the knowledg...

Re: Bible not from god?
We can't use the bible or what is written IN the bible as evidence FOR the bible. According to that view, if the Koran States it is THE Book of God above all others, does that make it so? No. Passages WITHIN the bible stating that scripture is "divine" and "god breathed" can't be...

All that is from the Koran I take it?
It's been awhile since I read it but a few passages sound familiar.
Of course, if one wants to, they can find a "similar" passage in the bible.

Re: Bible not from god?
Scripture being of divine ORIGIN is something that must be take on faith, there is no evidence of that. We have evidence that man wrote it and man copied it and edited it and so forth. Does that distract from what the Bible is? That would depend on what a person THINKS the bible to be. what? He's s...

Re: Questions About Satan
Paul, how is satan described in the Jewish religion? In a few different ways it seems: Some don't view him as an actual person/angel, but a "notion" of sorts. Others view Him like this: http://www.beingjewish.com/basics/satan.html http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/satan....

Re: Eghh makes my stomach hurt while listening to her...
I think that, deep down, the concept of actually having to answer for your actions to someone that KNOWS why you did them, is a very scary concept for some people. I think that personal spirituality makes people more comfortable and less threatening. No belief in God is even less threatening and mor...

Re: Let's hand it to the Catholics
Catholicisim ( not juts Roman Catholics by the way), is very open to "self correctingness", far more that the institution of the RCC of course. Catholicisim has a rich history of apologetics based not only on scripture but on reason and rational. Anyone that has read the likes of Augustine...
