The Old Covenant did not contain only the 10 Commandments, it contained the whole law, which I already agreed was not binding on us. In the New Covenant however, Jesus restated 9 of the 10 commandments. If Jesus had not restated the commandments, would you know to follow them? Deut. 18:18-19; John ...

I have an answer to this, and it is as follows: Didn't want you to think I was ignoring your response... I have been instructed by our illustrious moderator to swing over to the OSAS thread < http://discussions.godandscience.org/viewtopic.php?t=59&start=0 >, read, and then post responses there,...

The Moral Law, such as the 10 commandments, are the direct commands of God, and should be strictly obeyed. I am trying to be careful with my response this time, August, because I agree with a great many things that you have written, and the fault lies with me in not articulating my position better....

Different Covenants (Jews)

Thank you for the clarification. Very interesting perspective, which, I must admit, I haven't thought much about. If you don't mind, I would like to take one of your statements and draw it to conclusion: Perhaps each belief has their separate covenants so to speak, which does not negate the others.....

It is similar to the question Jesus asked. "Good? Why do you call me good? Good is only God in heaven." An Arian will see that and say "Ha, Jesus is yelling at the guy for saying he's good and it proves he's not God!" A trinitarian will say "Ha, Jesus does not deny being go...

And it is the answer to the original question. If faith is what saves then knowing or keeping the law is useless. My point is that if we are saved we have no need for the law since it should manifest itself automatically. We are in agreement, except that there is a "Law of Christ" [Gal. 6...

This is incorrect. I'm concerned that you are advocating a "faith+works" doctrine August, and that is not Biblical. In particular, it might help to define salvation a little better. We are justified as an act of God, which occurs when we accept Jesus as saviour (when we believe). This is ...

Strix, with all due respect, read the entire thread before you comment. I have been, very painfully, reading through the entire thread... :? Seriously, though, you seem like a very logical, well-versed individual. With all due respect, respond to the Scriptures: In the only original post that I can...

Just an observation, August... In your last post, you use NT Scripture to say that the Old Law is still in effect. We obey these commands because they are found in the New Testament. It is exactly the reason we do not obey some of the Old Testament commandments. Deuteronomy 5:32,33; 12:32 establishe...

Forgive me if I misunderstand your question. Let me take another stab at it... I think it is clear the old Sinaic law is no longer in effect, even from the Old Testament. Remember, the Old Testament was the Scripture that the Apostles used to teach Jesus: Psalm 110:1-7 Is this Moses the Psalmist is ...

Just for my own clarity... Yes or no: Do you agree that it's a valid scientific conclusion that the nearby stars are a few million light-years away? Yes... sort of... (Ha!) I think that it is a valid scientific conclusion that the nearby stars are verrrrrry far away. There is a lot of space between...

Re: who was there with Adam and Eve?

I've seen very little Scripture quoted on this forum so I thought I would contribute: ANGELS HAVE CHOICE Jude 6 "And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgement of the great day." Abandonment is w...
