Re: Jehovah witnesses

The main issue of Jesus' divinity, and why the Nicene Creed came to be, was that if Jesus is NOT God ( by nature) then: The GOJ is wrong as John explicit states that Jesus is God. We can NOT be saved by calling upon Jesus and as such Paul is wrong in Romans and Peter is wrong in Acts. Either that o...

Re: Jehovah witnesses

Mazzy, The doctrine of the Trinity is man made. The doctrine represents the reality that God is A Trinity. And Kurieuo is right. If you don't believe that Christ is God, you believe in a false Christ who cannot save. You really need to think about this. I believe Jesus is God's son who came to prov...

Re: Jehovah witnesses

Yes, you can trick JWs up on John 1 with a pen and paper, and a few simple questions. 1) Draw two circles on the page, then underneath label one "Created" and the other "Uncreated". 2) Ask them which circle God belongs in? Write "God" or "Jehovah" in the uncr...

Re: Jehovah witnesses

While one does not have to believe in the Trinity to be a Christian, one does have to understand that Jesus is God and that the HS is God. I tend to believe that the Trinity doctrine needs to be "reworded" for modern times, I don't know many that fully understand it to be honest. I think ...

Re: Jehovah witnesses

One must distinguish statements of authority ( The Father is greater, Only God is good) from statements of nature ( and the Word was God). John 1:1 is one place that the New World Translation of the Jw's is different from the mainstream...and the Word was a god. The Greek language of the first cent...

Re: Evolving from Simple to Complex?

... [stuff ]... No response needed. I've put my case and you don't like it. Fair enough. We differ. The discussion is not personal but for the consideration and deliberation of all our readers. Let them assess our different opinions for themselves. One more thing though. The idea that a complex phy...

Re: Evolving from Simple to Complex?

Or complex to simple as it seems: http://nautil.us/issue/9/Time/evolution-youre-drunk Exert: Amoebas are puny, stupid blobs, so scientists were surprised to learn that they contain 200 times more DNA than Einstein did. Because amoebas are made of just one cell, researchers assumed they would be sim...

Re: Evolving from Simple to Complex?

I was hoping you could support your opinion of the evolutionary tree of life around Miacidae with fossil evidence. Are you sure? If so, I'll be happy to do so in profusion. But you don't really, do you? What you want is to see the evidence, and announce that because it isn't conclusive proof, it is...

Re: New Theological discourse happening

Sure, words can be interpreted a certain way, especially when one zooms in on one verse devoid of the surrounding context. YECs also have their own scientific explanations, but it doesn't mean when proper methods are applied that other scientific explanations aren't more rationally justifiable maki...

Re: Evolving from Simple to Complex?

Well, that's fine. If "too imprecise to allow exact chronological comparisons" means "vague accumulation of confusion" then we are speaking different languages. "Respectfully, this discussion we are having is not about what is credible in your mind". ....." I sugg...

Re: New Theological discourse happening

And SDAs, who are a more legitimate so-far-as Christian orthodoxy is concerned, do adhere to a more law-based system of theology through which they interpret Scripture. They do so but I think they escape legalism by saying if you love God then naturally you would do these things. I have SDA relativ...

Re: Evolving from Simple to Complex?

You will find it very well set out in "Carnivoran Evolution: New Views of Phylogeny, Form and Function", 2010, edited by Anjali Goswami and Anthony Fricia. The essence of the carnivore is its carnassial teeth, which can be compared and contrasted in living carnivores, and remarkably large...
