Re: John Wesley's theology
This is why we need to stick with word words actually mean. We cannot simply redefine words to mean whatever we want them to mean in order to satisfy our own theological boxes (and we all have them). What you have both described is, by definition, not predestination. It is ratification. It is a div...

Re: Flat Earth Theory
I just want to reiterate, that none of us believes in a flat earth, except Eric. This is a running joke, that obviously pokes fun at something so obviously rediculous. I just wanted to make sure that those who are lurking, understand we aren't a bunch of ignorant flat earthers. EDIT***I only said th...

Re: Flat Earth Theory
Now that I think about it, if the earth was a spherical, spinning globe, wouldn't all the water on the earth's surface, just spin off into space? A flat earth would explain why water seeks its own level. I for one, am shocked and chagrined, at the level the round earthers, have taken this conspiracy...

Re: John Wesley's theology
jlay, You don't have to answer anything. That is your perogative. But calling it a "loaded" question is a copout, unless you can demonstrate how it is loaded. I chose the Beast for a reason, since most people here still regard him as a future person (there are many other examples in Scrip...

Re: John Wesley's theology
Predestination: Short answer. Events that occur transpire through the will of God. Example: I soveriegnly create a scenario. There is a room with two doors, one red and one green. Everyone in the room can choose a door. The choice not to choose bears the same consequence as choosing the red door. W...

Re: John Wesley's theology
Let me ask you, since I can't get a straight answer from jlay. Can the beast of Revelation be saved, or he is predestined to hell? If the former, is the prophecy in Revelation false? If the latter, is God being partial? The question is for anyone who denies that God predestines men to Hell to tackl...

Re: John Wesley's theology
Rick, Here are the 5 points presented by the Remonstrance at the Synod of Ddort. Note well #5: 1.) election (and condemnation on the day of judgment) was conditioned by the rational faith or nonfaith of man; 2.) the Atonement, while qualitatively adequate for all men, was efficacious only for the m...

Re: Eternal Security (OSAS)... Scripture ONLY
That may explain why it didn't sit well with me.Once Saved, Always Saved, has always seemed to me to be a term or concept that is lifted from Reformed Calvinism (of which part of the TULIP it refers to the P, or Perseverance of the Saints) but which doesn't include the whole package.

Re: Eternal Security (OSAS)... Scripture ONLY
I think a look @ the other side should be addressed as well so that we truly can make up our own minds. I'm currently undecided but seriously considering... have been in deep deep study and meditation for some time now. This is not a rebuttal... only a look at eternal security components. Feel free...

Why does Christ say that no man can come to Him? WHERE does Christ say that no man can come to Him? John 14:6:Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. No man can come to the Father, except through Christ. The efficacious work of Ch...
