Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe

My guess is that they would rest their argument on the *success* of the function, not the purpose. If the eye works and provides an advantage...its function survives.

Mind you, not agreeing, just betting that their use of the word function is not the same as yours.

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe

I'd love to hear how Darwinist account for the function of thinking. Selection/Evolution has no goal, it's not goal oriented (unless you are coming from a theistic evolution standpoint, in which point you argue that God conducted evolution). So any "thought" process merely would have adde...

Re: Negation of Free Will

Having free will is a far cry from exercising free will. WE can have all the free will we want, but if our heart desire is not for God, we will never exercise that will. One analogy I have heard- You can say you have free will concerning the foods you eat, but if you absolutely detest spaghetti, tha...

Re: What is the purpose of death.

Well, from a purely naturalistic point of view the length of an organisms life doesn't necessarily confer a competitive advantage. Any length of life after an animal reproduces is relatively meaningless in terms of any competative advantage. But would't it then have more opportunity's to reproduce ...

Re: Origins of Life

One thing we must remember surrounding the origins of life debate is that prior to the existence of biota there is no natural selection. Nothing can be selected for. All we have are free roaming molecules. The idea of chemical replicators being the precursor to biology still allows for selection. N...

ID doesn't try to fill in the gaps. You can take issue with IC, but ID is more than simply IC (as someone has already stated)

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe

I really enjoyed reading that link onthe other thread about science having some metaphysical aspects. We should link it here as well. I think for many people, they don't realize how much invades the idea of science.

That's the amazing grace of Jesus. He died for our sins, we not only will do something, we HAVE done something. We are all sinners. But His grace, (Awesome) covers out sins.

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe

Zoe: I and all other evolutionary biologists admit that we cannot typically witness macroevolution because of the brief lifespans we have. Did I or anyone else witness the evolution of the flagellum? Of course not. But, unlike ID, we provide a scientifically possible process using the Theory of Evo...

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe

Ivellius, There is also something akin to 'God of the gaps" and that is "science of the gaps". Often, if you listen to the language used in evolution, the phrase "over time" or "over generations" is used over and over. There are observable parts of evolution, often...
