Even if you decide you don't agree with me, that's fair enough. Whatever you decide to go with, I think I know you well enough to know that it will be based on Scripture. If, then, you decide I am wrong here or that I have taken it too far, then you will have a Scriptural, and clear, Gospel to take...

While I guess this counts as 'general chit-chat' I can say that there are probably other forums (focussed on video games) that would be far more help to you. I know nothing about Breath of Fire.

The only RPG I play currently is Elder Scrolls:Oblivion on PC and Xbox 360. :)

I've said a million times before that I'm not trying to CONVINCE anybody of anything. Right, it was only upon my request that you endevoured to do some convincing, I haven't forgotten that. :) Clarity is the entire issue. If you have seen exactly what I am saying, and I think you have, you can work...

I agree with the spirit of your post. Put simply, I think a fair statement is that "if they do not interfere with your walk with the Lord, then they are fine." But you've gotta be careful that you don't delude yourself into thinking they are not interferring when in fact they are.

The question is whether these can be compatible with a Christian lifestyle?

If a person says, "I believe in Jesus, but I could still go to Hell if . . . ", then they stated that they have trusted Christ to save them from Hell, but they don't know that they are saved from Hell. Thus, by our discussion, we see that such a person has not trusted Christ to save them ...

So let me draw a general principle: You can't trust Christ for X and not know that you have X (assuming that X is a promise of Christ, i.e., justification, forgiveness, etc.). Is that acceptable? I'll continue as if it is. I will tentatively agree that it is acceptable, while reserving the right to...

Can you then say, "I believe in Jesus for forgiveness," and then disbelieve that you have it? Agreed, that would make no sense. I'm assuming, in all of this, that you believe that you have to receive forgiveness on faith and that you can't believe it is done by works. Naturally... In othe...

Ok, so for you, "believing in Jesus" means to trust Him to be the forgiveness of your sins, right? Yes. What if a person says, "But Jesus isn't capable of forgiving my sins!" Don't they have to believe that Jesus is capable, and willing (?), to offer this forgiveness? Yes I agre...

I think this is in the right direction, to simplify the discussion and the point of contention. What does it mean to "place faith in Jesus for salvation"... For me, it means understanding that I am a sinner, that only Jesus can redeem those sins, and then accepting that because of God's gr...

First a pointed reply to emphasize my contention (longer post later for acknowledgements and possible clarifications)... No, we are saved by believing in Christ for everlasting life. Yes! If you don't believe that you are saved in a completely objective sense, then you aren't. Prove it! I honestly f...

I think this hair-splitting is valuable and important to examine after we're saved. When we begin to refine belief to so many elements and then argue that saving faith requires cognizant acceptance at each point of minutia, we've moved beyond faith and grace and are rapidly approaching a form of gn...
