A good speech you posted

I think my reply was too wordy to you, though I was thinking eloquent. Does it bore you? "Don't go disagreeing, simply for sake of disagreeing with the mob" ... a good speech! I think they are a "mob" because they often have some mob rules on me, e.g. when I talked to girls, the...

There must be mutual extrusivism for self-sacrificing.

I think you are confusing self-sacrifice with giving up one's ability to think as as individual. Thoughout your posts you bring up feeling to pressure to follow the mob. PLease help me understand this. Are you thinking that somehow Christ wants us to give up our individuality and simply be mindless...

Leftist or Rightist

I am not an academic on Marxism, but at times I have to be on business trip to China. A saying is often coming to my ears about Chinese culture, "selfish-less to self-sacrifce" - a merit based on Maoism - the notion is sort of something encouraging a gang of many many people having the sa...

?

Zoegirl, Belive it or not, Christians are more difficult to marry. At least I am inclined to think the reason is because Christians like us learn something about God's will; our knowledge about His will may make us spontaneously put more judgement and measurement over other people who do not believ...

Why and What.

B.W. A groovy reply you post onto here. Yes it's not improbable it is God's will to let us have free will to see His glory and almighty overwhelming existence, above anything else. I was trying to answer the question: what is free will? (It was what Forge was asking, wasn't it?) I tried to shape wh...

Free will can fade off.

In summary of the above it quite depends on a few variables in considering free will: (1) the sense of the chooser (2) the availability of choices for the chooser to exercise his free will (3) knowledge of such availability (4) our freshly weakness In (1), I mean the ability to choose. If the choose...

God is mercy

Both B.W. and FFC illustrated vividly how we follow Christ that relieve our burden and toil in our lives and learn to know Him - that's for sure a sweet one to walk along with Him. It is also gladful zoegirl answering bringing what the scriptures are telling us why we should or should not do this or...

Re: self-sacrifice

A sacrifice to God has to be something worth sacrificing ie. given to God. If I give up, for instance, stealing or lying, is that really self-sacrifice? It seems to me that those things have to be dropped in the dirt where they belong when I come before God; God doesn't want them! But what about yo...

content of prayer

It may not be appropriate to post here but I don't want to open a new topic to ask. I've no idea what content looks good for a prayer when my notebook computer was stolen in the restaurant. Should I pray for the thieves to repent or recovery of the lost computer, or a new one to replace the stolen f...

biblical meaning of sacrifice

FFC, I figure that in the scripture, sacrifice merely means our giving up the fleshly desire for, e.g. ambition, malice, greed... when we give up this cravings, and follow the Way, we sacrifice something, (or more accurately we conquer the evil for victory for Christ's sake) another notion of self-s...

re

FFC, it's nice getting your reply; scripturally speaking isn't our self distinctly a "new self" rather than "old self". the self-sacrificing is referring to the old self that we sacrifice, but if we love each other like loving ourselves it sounds to me our faith does not let us d...

Does our faith mean "self sacrifice"?

I have often been told that a Christian is someone who self-sacrifices himself here and there. To the best of my knowledge, our faith is to confess that we are sinners, repent and follow him; it's true Christians take care of neighbors not for their own benefits but for the neighbors' benefits; thin...

Tolerate the boredom something I've never come across before

Gman, It help a lot indeed. Very grateful. alas... hard to express my feeling right here. The employment contract with him is very stupid contract. I am like a tree in the office; grasping more challenges drew coworkers' awful reaction as though they are deprived of theirs to be reprimanded by the b...

Re: dilemma

Sorry Ashley, I just saw that you had sent me this message twice. I must have missed it. I really don't know how to answer your question. I would have to say though it's all about your motives. In other words you will need to peel away the layers to understand the real motive behind it. Is it for m...
