Re: What would God say if he came here and why.

Ok, cool. At least we agree on this part. :) No we don't agree I only said it was good, here is the Christian definition of God's attributes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attributes_of_God_in_Christianity Whoa, interesting read. I'd be lying if I said I liked that God :) Yikes, I'm not a neuro-scie...

Re: Religion vs. Science?

"Love bears all things." That is not a redefinition (or at least a refinement of the definition) of love? Wow, well, uh... the noun is "love", the verb is "bears", the adverb is "things", and the emphasizing adverb is "all". So this is a claim of wh...

Re: Religion vs. Science?

Actually, love does bear all things, including leaving an abusive spouse. You can't decide for YOURSELF what something means to YOU and then decide that must mean the same thing for everyone. To bear all things means to deal with all that life hands you with love, not hate, not anger, not anything ...

Re: Basis for belief?

Ah, I'm agnostic. I don't believe we're capable of understanding objective truth, if it even exists. I meant that I agree with everything in the post, except:... If I read your post and your signature you seem to be inconsistent. Ah, well. There is a distinction between truth and objective truth. I...

Re: What would God say if he came here and why.

We are not talking about you or me and I certainly do NOT profee to know the mind of God. That you don't see the validity of the argument is not my problem. That you don't see the issues with a uber-advanced being making Himself know to a lower species and all the issues that may come from that, is...

Re: Religion vs. Science?

Yup, man is fallible. I totally agree.

Equal opportunity for everyone. There's no standard of "equality". It is a mathematical concept. The "standard of opportunity" will of course be determined by available potential over number of people, which would prove it equal.

Re: What would God say if he came here and why.

In regards to knowledge and free will. If a higher life form/being wanted us to know him in the most "non-coersive" way, a way that leaves us free to reject Him or a accept Him based on US and NOT on Him "forcing himself on us, then the freeness of being able to reject Him is very im...

Re: Religion vs. Science?

adjective concerned with or seeking to promote human welfare. Promoting human welfare in what regard and to what aim? I know a few self-professed "humanitarians" that all they care about is the MONETARY and MATERIALISTIC welfare of humans, and by humans I mean selected groups of people. T...

Re: What would God say if he came here and why.

Hey Dan, I'm tempted to just reject your question, First of all, because you didn't define God. There are hundreds of thousands of gods, and thousands of variants of God. That makes it nearly impossible to properly answer the question, but I'll try. Which God is irrelevant to the question, I don't ...

Re: Religion vs. Science?

I wanted to talk about this a bit: And that right there is your delusion. You think Christians have to be absolutely following a rule book. Perhaps that is what it seems to you. You think others must do the same. I follow the spirit of the whole scriptures. Christianity: the religion based on the pe...

I think Seeker's post is a perfect example. I could find another one if you really want me to. Seeker: I hope I have helped your education, and not hindered it. I encourage you to get good grades, and follow your curriculum to the best of your ability. I'd also encourage you to pursue science furthe...

Okay, well I guess it is the credibility of Houghton Mifflin Company vs. Oxford University Press then. Honestly, I think we've beaten this horse far past death by this point.
