Re: Good action

Objective VS subjective morality can be a tricky issue. I think that at it's core, morality is objective since it is compared to God. I also think that if a moral issue seems to be subjective, the question isn't specific enough. For example: What color is the sky? Most would say blue. What about at ...

Re: Philosophy of Faith

Goes to show that people have faith and what they place their faith in reveals whom they trust – their own ability to have God dance and perform to their tunes, or naturalism, or secularism, or place faith in the Lord of Host by means of absolute surrender to him to avoid the wrath to come. - BW, i...

Re: The God of the Old Testament

There's a couple of articles on the main site that might be of help to you. I'll link one at the bottom of my post that I'm thinking about. That one basically points out how there are things that the Bible teaches that line up with science in such a way as to point directly to some type of divine in...

Re: Secured Salvation

I've got a comment about the Hebrews verse everyone has brought up. I read a version of that verse once that seemed to make a whole lot more sense that the way I've seen it usually translated. I don't remember what version of the Bible it was in, but it read something like this: "...it is impos...

Re: Secured Salvation

B.W. , I do have one comment on what you wrote, and I'd like to get your opinion on it. You said that a true believer won't resist God's efforts to transform us. Did you mean as a general overall tone of a believer's life, or something more specific? Reason being, the way I read your post it sounded...

Re: Secured Salvation

The way I look at it is this: If I am honest with myself, I can be sure of my own salvation but not yours. This is exactly why I feel Paul said:,"Who are you to judge another man's servant? To his own master he stands or falls, and he will stand for God is able to make him stand" Paul also...

Re: Christianity and secular music

Have you guys heard of a band called 'Red'? One of my friends, who is basically an apathetic deist, told me about them. They aren't obviously a Christian band, but if someone told you they were and then you listened to their lyrics, it's VERY obvious. While I do like a lot of the stereotypical Chris...

Re: Blasphemy against the holy spirit??

Here's how I look at it. Jesus said that this was the one sin that 'would not' be forgiven. I don't remember reading 'could not'. I feel that Jesus meant that people who blaspheme the holy spirit like that are so dead-set in their unbelief and rejection that they aren't going to ever embrace the lov...

Re: Philosophy of Faith

This thread got a little bigger since I was here last! I'll have to check my settings. I'm not getting emails when people reply. lol. Hopefully this will clear things up. ++Adam and Eve made a choice between two systems. Which did they surrender and the one accepted? What are the hallmarks of each? ...

Re: Philosophy of Faith

I agree with KMR in that faith is a choice. Faith is such a complex topic that it's hard to really narrow down to a specific definition. However, here's a few points I have. 1. It is a choice. Faith is greatly influenced by some things, but in the end faith is a choice between two belief systems. I ...

Re: Philosophy's place in religion

I had a friend like that on facebook once. I ended up unfriending him since it seemed like every post he made was trying to drag any religious person, especially Christians, down. Apparently building somebody up instead of knocking someone down is too difficult. Then again, can you actually build so...

First post/prayer request

Well, I've been a lurker on this site/forum for quite a while, but this is my first post. I guess it's fitting that it's a prayer request for two people I know. The request is for both of these people to come to faith, and a final one for me. They both believe in God, but unfortunately, that's where...
