Re: Book of Job

To some extent, morals are a simple product of humans being a social species. Us being social dictates that we will automatically be "good" to some people and as a social species we are inherently "good" to those closest to us and most like us. To what extent this goodness maint...

Re: Any one use a Epson Workforce 610 Printer?

Good thing you made it. Printers can behave unusually at times, I know that mine sometimes just refuses to execute a command to print, it remains as pending in the queue, but won't start, especially when I change ink. Sometimes I have to restart both the computer and the printer to solve the problem.

Re: Christian Fiction

I'd agree there are a lot of Christian metaphors there. Possibly... But I also notice other potentially metaphoric persons/events/etc... - Slytherins could symbolize White nationalists due to their reluctancy to recruit new members that don't come from "pure" families. Besides, the Malfoy...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

Next point is the age old comments non-Christian people have and make about Christians. These assumptions are not without merit. I made them myself back during the 1970’s. Today, these same assumptions fuel militant agnostic and atheist rejection of Christian faith. So how do we answer these? I'll ...

Re: Bible Contradictions??

And the world couldn't be better for it. As for failing older 'traditional' moral systems, I see that as a byproduct of moral progress. I'm quite happy with these reports. Petty breaches of morality (gossip, lying, etc.) at the cost of less violent crime and more peace overall. Strong differences i...

Re: Bible Contradictions??

Doesn't address Japan. I addressed 7 out of 8 of your examples. I consider it a success. Nor do I find it a particularly good objection for the other countries - I'm more inclined to think that as a country moves away from outdated texts and overly restrictive prescriptive tenants, the more it will...

Re: Bible Contradictions??

Well, there's Iceland, Sweden, Norway, & Belgium. All extremely secular countries that have extremely low crime, high health, and stable economies (And yes, Iceland is very stable now as well as the safest country in the world). Australia, Japan, and France are also partial examples. It is poss...

Re: Socialism

It's actually quite different. At least the healthcare Obama proposes. My family pays for the water, electricity, and gas WE use. In universal healthcare, my family pays for the healthcare everyone else uses. You all know Americans are fat, lazy, and unhealthy. So, paying for the fat, lazy, and unh...

Re: Bible Contradictions??

there aren't 2 billion believers in Santa, or that Santa isn't being shoved down your throats. Got your point, but there aren't 2 billions believers in Christ. There may be 2 billion people who claim that are Christian. I was baptized a a Christian when I was born. Does that make me a Christian? Un...

Re: Bible Contradictions??

If they don't believe, then why do they go through so much trouble to try to disprove it? lol Sometimes I wonder if they doubt their own disbelief So you think they go through the trouble because they do believe? Tina wants to say that it makes no sense why someone would spend so much time and effo...

When I saw the username "Reason", a weird feeling told me that the user was not Christian. I can't believe I guessed right! :pound:

Re: Socialism

Prejudices... Prejudices everywhere... :shakehead: What are you talking about, my socialist friend? I'm saying, some people think that having universal healthcare is socialist. Yet nearly entire Europe has it. And some think that in (real) socialism everyone is paid the same salary. Fear of the unk...
