Re: Man's guilt, before God.

Truth is relative to the will of something far beyond a single human being, Human beings are at the same time incredibly complex or quite simple. I would prefer to instead of thinking of myself as one person, to think that I am a Single cell of humanity. This statement itself is self-defeating, bec...

Re: What makes the bible any different than other old storie

There is a marked difference between proof and persuasion. Some will never be persuaded regardless of the proof offered. Others will be persuaded by far less. One of the advantages of being a Calvinist is that I don't have to convince anyone. That's not my job, and that's a good thing. It's the Holy...

Re: Molinism discussion

The whole No Free will statement because we are a slave to sin is a stretch. Sure we are a slave to sinful desires either in us and/or the world but that does not mean we do not have enough free will to choose God since ..look... here we are as God's children yet we were sinful from the day we were...

Re: What makes the bible any different than other old storie

Not really. One is either going to start with God or with no God. There is no middle ground, so we need a starting point. If necessary, P1 can be proven via reductio ad absurdum . Prove A: God is the precondition of human knowledge. 1. ~A: (Assume the opposite - of necessity, either A or ~A is true)...

Re: If God is all-knowing...

If all you're going to do is pull out the "My religion/God is just way too awesome/complex/great for you to comprehend so your logic is invalid" argument, then there's really no point in discussing anything, I guess... Ivellious, Check this out: http://discussions.godandscience.org/viewto...

Re: What makes the bible any different than other old storie

The point about us knowing nothing without the Bible is absurd...We knew and learned lots before it and lots afterward too...but it's not all because of the Bible. Are you saying everything prior to the Bible was meaningless knowledge? Yes, Christianity led to some cool advancements in art, literat...

John 10:7, 8, 9, " Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find p...

Re: Man's guilt, before God.

Who is Adam. If there is No Adam, then who Is Jesus? Why does Adam have to be a real person? Jesus and Paul thought he was real. Since they were inspired by the Holy Spirit, I think it would be wise to agree with them. I prefer to think positive, men aren't corrupt, if they are pure. How does what ...

Rev 3:20 - " Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me ." NAKJV Beautiful verse, Bryan. Except it has nothing to do with justification or atonement. It is a warning to a church against aposta...

Re: Molinism discussion

Thanks B.W. I would guess that this is his definition of foreknowledge (assuming that he wrote both articles). His Middle Knowledge of what would happen then becomes His Free Knowledge of what will happen - what we call Foreknowledge. His Foreknowledge though, does not determine what a person must d...

Re: Man's guilt, before God.

RickD wrote:Is man born guilty, before God because of man's sin nature? Or, is each man, guilty before God, because of each man's own sin?
Yes. :)

Man is a sinner from conception, and is thus guilty. He is responsible for his own sin. Both are true.

Re: Molinism discussion

Here is my response to the articles that B.W. posted: Named after its first proponent, Luis Molina (1535–1600), a sixteenth-century Jesuit priest, Molinism holds to a strong notion of God’s control and an equally firm affirmation of human freedom. In other words Molinism simultaneously holds to a Ca...

Re: Molinism discussion

B.W., Your selective exegesis reminds me of evangelicals who insist that "wine" is a mocker, but that Jesus drank "grape juice". If a word is translated a certain way 95% of the time, why ignore the one translation (KJV) that actually uses it this way? Weren't you one of th...
