Thank you He's got some different anti-depressants which don't seem to have much ill effect and things have mostly been all right for him at work.1over137 wrote:May God give you both lot of strength.

Re: Signs and wonders and specific prayer
It's 'Making the Miraculous a Part of Your Life' by Don Meares. The other book I mentioned is 'The Fourth Dimension' by Paul Yonggi Cho.

Signs and wonders and specific prayer
I've been reading one of my old Christian books which is on the subject of the miraculous, particularly as an evangelism tool. It's really got me thinking, given that the book is 25 years old, about why this is not happening more. As it points out, Jesus said, 'signs and wonders shall follow those w...

That's great news Nicki! A wise man once said: Having a job is virtually part of a guy's DNA. Yes, probably! It wasn't going so well in the end last week, though - it seems he's got a very critical boss who keeps giving him a hard time. He was really down all weekend and struggled to go to work on ...

Re: Non-intelligent supreme X
These are essentially all philosophical questions on why, and not on the how, which indicates they aren't scientific questions at all. Allow me to disagree: not philosophical questions; questions on logic. Besides...so what? Did I say I wanted to question on science? One must presume logic to ask t...

Re: If Jesus was God, why wasn't He more obvious?
Right now I am looking at several blank sheets of paper, each identical, and indistinguishable from each other, yet they are not the same sheet of paper. In my tool box I have 2 socket wrenches each identical to each other, yet they are not the same tool. These items are completely separate from ea...

Re: Why the Bible is true...
The only faith we should place is in Jesus. I always remember the likes of Ehrman, who placed his faith in the inerrant and unaltered written word of the bible and when he came to the conclusion that was not the case, his "faith" collapsed. The bible simply points the way to Christ ( as d...

Re: Provision/poverty
Thanks, Hamster. I have been praying, a lot! A bit like that woman in the parable who kept banging on the judge's door. I realise it hasn't been the best time of year, though - it's summer here and Christmas/New Year is the biggest holiday season. Not that my husband takes much notice when I point ...

Re: Why the Bible is true...
Welcome CW. I agree with many things that you've said and many certainly help to reassure those of us Christians who believe in the truth of Scripture. Something I learnt long ago and caused me much disappointment was my own attempts to justify Scripture and use it as an apologetic. I fell flat on ...

Re: Provision/poverty
The bible is quote clear that we are to fend for ourselves to the best possible way we can. Christian are to help one another in time of need, this is a give on course BUT that does NOT mean that people are to depend on others for their survival. They must "stand on their own two feet" wh...

I always used to use the NIV but I've been reading the CEV on YouVersion and enjoying that. I don't think the NIV is hard to understand though.

Re: Provision/poverty
Thank you, guys. I do try to cook cheaply but my husband wants to have a good amount of meat most nights! We have two children to look after as well.
