Re: The bible. Should we it take it literally ?
I guess the best way to actually define [poetic interpretation] would be a liberal approach to scripture, that it isn't all literal historical accounts, but that parts of biblical scripture are actually metaphoric language and symbolic of a greater meaning than the actual words on the page, whether...

Re: Question and discussion on God's personality
And it still makes good sense to ask this since we all know other fellow believers some who have great personalities, the ones who act happy, fun, kind, loving, and so on where as we also know believers who are jerks. The kind whom I know who act that way are the proud, legalistic, prudish, hateful,...

Re: Heaven
Taking a quick look at what the Bible says in John 14! [“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me . My Father’s house has many rooms ; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for yo...

Re: Masochism
Have to disagree there. Call me crazy, but I'm certainly not drawn towards self-destructive behaviours, to my knowledge anyway! Well, I was answering from a twisted-logic biblical perspective. Sin is self-destructive/we are all born sinners/therefore we are all self-destructive. FL t<):) Ah, my apo...

Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?
Apologies if this is a double post. I would love to hear some of your personal viewpoints on this! [Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. - Matthew 5:17 NIV] Definition of "fulfill" - " Bring to completio...

Re: The bible. Should we it take it literally ?
Sorry, you're right - I didn't make that clear at all! It's a term I've heard used again and again and again by my philosophy teacher, I guess the best way to actually define it would be a liberal approach to scripture, that it isn't all literal historical accounts, but that parts of biblical script...

Re: The bible. Should we it take it literally ?
It really does depend on the specific scripture that you are looking at, there are areas of scripture which are best interpreted in a poetic sense and there are also areas which are best interpreted in a literal sense. I guess this is where the main issue of interpretation of Biblical scripture lies...

Re: Masochism
Are humans in general masochistic? If masochism is the tendency to inflict harm on oneself, then I would tend to agree: humans are drawn towards self-destructive behaviors. Re: Question and discussion about rewards in heaven...
Hi there everyone, with the lack of solid and effective opportunities to share the gospel at least for me right now, and if I never get those opportunities because of circumstances out of my control, in the afterlife with God, do you all think He will reward those like myself who would love to do b...

Hi, I'm not going to pretend that I have a vast understanding of God's nature, especially within areas like this! I guess that's why I've recently joined the forum, to learn and be encouraged by you all! This is something I've been wrestling with for a couple of days now and I would love to hear som...

Re: Richard Dawkins looking smarter then ive ever seen him
I personally find Dawkins ok to listen to, I think his views are obviously and evidently flawed in many areas but he is entertaining to listen to. However, anyone who asks the question "Who created God?" and makes the statement "Natural selection accounts for its own existence" f...
