Re: Do medications count as doing drugs?

"doing drugs" are not inherently bad, its the reasons/effects of the drug that are evaluated. If someone has a legitimate medical need to take a drug I don't see any problems with it. But for every person I've met that needed cannabis medically, I can name at least 10 others that used it f...

Re: Baptism and Salvation

That is a far cry from what Dom is saying, that it's the water baptism that saves. This is what he told me in another thread, when I asked him if according to his belief, since I haven't been baptized, could I have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit? Is there a reason you don't want to be baptized?

Re: Baptism and Salvation

Just to add in my 2c, I do think that works are a necessary next step to faith. God's grace is the only thing needed to be saved, but I do not believe there has ever been a person who accepted God and did not change, was not made more holy over time. So, while I agree that the baptism isn't the caus...

Re: Questions from a new Christian

2: Morals(sorry i am a bit new to this kind of discussion on morals and needed a bit more indepth research on it) Morals are all just relative (sorry i couldnt combat this one very well) There is no way to prove that morals are just subjective. No need to combat this, if anything experience reveals...

Re: to or not to

i understand tha tbut what about a person who blatantly denys christ abd rejects the gospel all his life and dies with out repenting can we assume that that person more than likely won't be going to heaven Sure, but we are not privy to this person's thoughts. IF this happened, no they would not go ...

Re: to or not to

There is no problem with judging an action to be incorrect. I think we are all capable of doing that. However, when people say things like "you are going to hell", these are statements that are outside of our authority. Only God has the means to judge who goes to heaven, it is not our place.

Re: Why do many christians not like homosexuals?

I am of the strong belief that Jesus/God loves all of His creations and would not create something that he does not love. Why, then, would God create people who are homosexual if He hates homosexuality? Why did God create any of us at all, knowing we would all fall short of his righteousness? God d...

Re: Anti-Gay Bullying

I made an error on the religious view thing...Originally that law was passed in Michigan, under the justification that Christians or Muslims or whoever that speak out against gays are allowed to under the freedom of speech. The school board in Minnesota that this post is based off of was pressured ...

Re: Anti-Gay Bullying

the Board passed a mandate banning homosexuality from being discussed in a positive light in the classroom and that teachers were not allowed to express positive views or aid to students based on homosexuality. Regardless of whether it is discussed in a "positive" or "negative" ...

Re: Who gets into Heaven?

I abstain not because "organized religion is dumb," but rather because I see Christianity as an organization being horribly bastardized in every sense of the word. Religion is fine. The institution is dangerous and ultimately does not stand for its religion's beliefs. Throughout history, ...

the teleological argument is also not restricted to just life, everything in the universe falls under it's inspection.

Re: Who gets into Heaven?

while screwing half the world and damning them to eternal torment for, in most cases, being born into the wrong family. It's like the caste system of Hinduism when you believe in that. As far as I'm concerned, I want no part of that. The loving higher being that I believe in doesn't care if you're ...

Re: Christ not the only way to God

I think the real issue here is, can you be moral and spiritual and find God and go to heaven without accepting Jesus as God? I think the ultimate question here is whether the Jews and the Muslims and the Hindus and the Taoists and the ancestor-worshipers in Japan etc.etc. can possibly go to heaven....

Re: Christ not the only way to God

Buddhawarrior, as much as I would like to have a dialougue with you this post is a mess of contradictions. You cannot in the same breath quote the bible to tell us why Christianity is wrong, and then go on to deny our ability to use the Bible to correct you. If you would like to give me a valid alte...

Re: morality question(oh no not again)

Btw Echoside, "cultural differences" cited as a moral relativist or pluralist position commits the genetic fallacy He assumed subjective morality existed in the question. Obviously if morals were subjective cultural differences would come into play as to what is right and wrong, and who i...
