Re: Islam ?

FL, thanks for the resource. I'll check it out right after this post. One question though. Your first thought about nominal Christians is startling and intriguing. Could you explain this more to me? And maybe describe to me what you consider a nominal Christian. Obviously you believe a nominal Chris...

Islam ?

I've been thinking a lot about how God will judge other relegions, particularly muslims. It's difficult to understand how He'll do this for muslims who have grown up totally envoloped in the religion. I started thinking, I'm like that with Christianity. It's been around me my whole life. So even tho...

Re: Adam and Eve

Top it off with a sparse hominid record that remains unconvincing and other shaky details about evolution and I'm amazed so many Christians feel the need to accept evolution as fact. It's not like the scientific community was going to accept a supernatural creation. But the Christian can...

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

Where am I trying to "ground" the Golden Rule or the Commandments in objectivity, whatever than means? No wonder topics swell to 44 pages, rarely reaching common ground between opposing viewpoints. I'm just saying that most of the Commandments reasonably follow from Golden Rule versions, ...

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

Not that I was there, but I think a godless world would be very similar to the times of Noah. Which sounds pretty bad. Murder, revenge, theft, etc.

Looks like RTB has a podcast on this. I haven't listened to it yet. Title is 8.8 billion though.

Re: Distant galaxy might have 11 billion earth like planets

It's always funny to me how people get excited over the BILLIONS!!! of earth like goldilock planets possibly out there. Earth like, habitable zone, goldilocks, etc. only means similar size with potential for liquid water. A far cry from the numerous other factors required to support life. And from t...

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

Perci, I had a friend who was a hard core atheist. He BELIEVED there was no God. Anyways, he self served himself anyway he pleased. Stole anything and everything he could and wanted. He stole a brand new 8 x 12ft rug out of our University that said University of Alberta on it. I mean, who needs that...

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

Ryan, Its very simple, <SNIP> 5. I want to be correct, I accept what makes sense and try to go with it to logical conclusions. Neha, thanks for your answers. I won't get into your objections right now, as it's well outside the scope of this thread (even though we are already outside the OP quite a ...

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

I'd agree with you Neha. How about a subjective discussion then. Do you think there's anything wrong if I kill my wife tonight. Also, if my 5 questions previously posed are not something you'd like to answer on the forum, I am genuinely interested if you feel comfortable PMing me. If not, I understa...

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

I think life is cheap in the atheist context, because nothing matters at all. If there is no God and everything is a fluke, then murder, theft, rape, lying, etc are all ok. If I kill my wife, what's the big deal?

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

Neha, you say you were once a Christian in this thread, in order to gain authority on these matters. And you've asked "where have I said that". Yet you've said previously: Neha wrote: I am an atheist because I have never seen anything which hints a God, I haven't felt what you have had, so...

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

Neha, I've met countless "atheists" who used to be "Christians" until they went to college and their class mates told them its impossible the earth could be flooded and no boat can hold all the animals, the light bulb burnt out and they abandoned their faith. They usually all wen...

Re: Through the Lens: Evolution, "What About Transitional Fo

Ya, rubberneck claiming to be agnostic would have made a lot more sense. But then I think you'd find people here can't take that position seriously. It's a middle ground of uncertainty, which must be a awkward place to be. It's also a middle ground of honesty and necessity, depending on the subject...
