Re: going to hell?

Does it not seem odd that for all the Bible has to say about unity, its ultimate message is if one does not in this short life connect with "God" through salvation, one is to be forever separated (in hell) without hope of unification. Where is restoration? How can what started as a whole "God" be r...

Re: Pastor’s Speech Against Equal Rights (surprise ending)

I was sent this earlier today. Regardless of how you feel about gay rights, it is a rather powerful message. Missouri Pastor’s Fiery Speech Against Equal Rights for Homosexuals Has Stunning Twist Ending It is indeed a powerful message, especially where he says, "I hope you all will stand on the rig...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

I think you missed Jlay's point, he was saying (well at least I think he is, but Jlay will probably answer for himself) he doesn't know the reason behind the law because the Bible does not give a reason and you are presuming a gender bias which may or may not be the case. You cannot say it is fact ...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

The text gives no indication that the period of time given is for anything other than purification and cleansing of the mother. The text also gives no clear indication of why it is so and you are reading in a gender bias which may or may not be there. But according to Byblos there may be a reasonab...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

I gotta say Byblos your last post was very interesting, that law has been bugging me all week and now it has been laid to rest in my mind.   How does making the bias go one way instead of the other make any difference? y:-/ The bottom line is that the woman bearing the child is s...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

Whether or not you think a reason is valid has nothing to do with whether or not it is BIASED. That is my argument. So far no one has been able to show that the passage in Leviticus is not gender biased. Just keep sticking your head in the sand and keep repeating the same thing over and over again,...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

There are many women in single parent households and two parent households that take the leadership role in the family and do as well or better than men. There are women who do very well. I work with many such families. And quite frankly it is not hard to do 'better' than many men today. That isn't...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

I have shown that the laws contained in the Bible are biased and the bias is based on gender. And I have given an alternate unbiased version. You can claim anything you want. What you absolutely CANNOT claim any more is that no one offered a plausible counter-answer to your theory. What did you say...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

bi·as/ˈbÄ«əs/ Noun: Prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another , usually in a way considered to be unfair. Verb: Show prejudice for or against (someone or something) unfairly: "the tests were biased against women"; "a biased view of the world". I asked you to...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

The point I was trying to make is that in a court of law, if the testimony of a witness is based on evidence that is biased in their favor that testimony is thrown out because it is biased. The reason you have no problem with the male bias of the Bible is because it is biased in your favor. I'm sur...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

Here is a link to a current, short video clip (under 2 min.) from the American Family Association's Bryan Fischer , where he talks about masculine leadership in society from a biblical perspective. I would like to get some feedback on this from Christian males. I know jlay is supportive of male head...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

Your conclusion of male rulership based on what the Bible says would not hold up in any court of law in this country, merely because the book from which you draw on is biased in your favor , so of coarse you think it is right. - y@};- You've given no examples. You offered no rights, no source. In t...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

No, I state the Bible is biased toward the male because it is, and I have proved it. Proved it how? I've asked you this before so let me repeat it again in case you missed it. Please provide a universally binding definition of bias that is also applicable in all societies at all times. You do know ...
