Re: What Would the World Look Like if Run by New Atheists?

LOL@Wrain. Good point ;) It's a shame, however, how true the predictions of 1984 already are. We already have a culture of self-love (not the same as love of self) and worship of science. False gods still exist in the same way they once did -- money, power, fornication, etc etc. What a time, what a ...

Re: Atheist: "Do I take my child to church?"

All that said, it still doesn't deal with the issue of genetic code. Code is a language, and is immaterial . At the end of the day, DNA is a terrible inconvenience for Darwinism. You are equating a change (evolution) to Darwinism (Evolution.) You are fast becoming one of my favorite people, Jlay. B...

Re: Birth Control

I never meant to imply that it was the only and strongest case for balancing out sexism. On a related note, the sexism, like the violence and even bigotry we see in the Bible, is simply a testament to the culture and time. The Bible is a historical document, don't forget, and in it has been recorded...

Re: Birth Control

There is a reference in the Bible to birth control to Onan in Genesis 38:9 - "And Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so it came about that when he went in to his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground, in order not to give offspring to his brother." The reason God did...

Re: Loss of the Right to Live

1. Hilarious comic -- definitely want to see more of those. 2. In Canada we've been paying the equivalent of over $5 for over a year now. Add that to already high taxation and increased cost of living in general -- it's ugly right now. 3. Netherlands -- don't get me started. 4. Good lord, we all nee...

Re: It seems Richard Dawkins isnt a proper Atheist-guru !

It would be really nice if the new, uneducated, overly emotional, personal-axe-to-grind atheists realized that modern science is pointing in the direction of an individual creator. In fact, I'm now forming the opinion that many atheists have simply been burned in some way or another by Christianity ...

This board wouldn't exist and we wouldn't be having this conversation! :D  ...y:O2 Did I just blow your mind? :P Indeed, I agree with Canuckster. The real test would be to witness how these "advanced secular societies" act when their legal controls, supplies and laws disappear. Recal...

Re: Atheist: "Do I take my child to church?"

The talk of fire and brimstone has always eluded me, and I was raised as a strict Catholic. The focus was always on trying to love God as perfectly as possible and seeking his guidance and staying true to His word as possible. But, that if you failed at it, it did not mean you were a horrible indivi...
