Re: Struggling with the Old Testament
The Isrealites are still God's chosen people. The blessing was passed to the Gentiles as well. Paul says "for the Jew first, and then for the Gentile. This doesn't make sense from the Christian perspective since the Jews reject Christ as savior. And the only way to heaven is through Jesus. Am ...

Re: blasphemy, food, holidays
Tobacco is a legal product. A Christian is still a Christian if he smokes or works in the tobacco industry. I don't have a problem with this but if you do, find another job. If you can't find another job, stop whining and get over your legalism. Ditto for alcohol. Excelent point. I do know that the...

Re: going to hell?
Not to cut in on B.W., but my understanding about Sheol is that there are two aspects of it. 1.) Torment-were people who rejected God are 2.) Paradise-were people who followed God, i.e.-Job, Moses, Abraham, David, are When Jesus looked at the thief hanging on the cross beside Him, He said that he(th...

Re: blasphemy, food, holidays
Bavarian makes a great point. From my perspective, it is all about whether or not you also feel a conviction from doing certain things. Example: I love to play video games. One of them I play online; Diablo 2. Does this change who I am as a Christian? No. If I feel convicted for playing the game, I ...

When I was a kid my mom was totaly against even having one in the house. Personaly it made me more curious. But as I got older that went away. I refuse to ever be near one.

Re: the age of the earth
How old is the earth according to the Bible? Bavarian is right, the Bible doesn't give a specific age of the Earth. Neither does it give a specific age of Adam and Eve when they were created. Honestly, IMPO, I think that Adam and Eve were created maybe around the prime of their lives, as was the Ea...

Re: Mormons racist against blacks
Certainly, but having lived among them, I made one friend that was a bit more open and he admitted to me that there is even a heirarchy among Mormons themselves for things like jobs. Mormons will be considered first, but the ones on top of the Mormon list are those that are seen to "fit" ...

Re: Mormons racist against blacks
. . I lived among the Mormons for 4 years. I can attest that not only are (were) they racist against Blacks, but they're also "racist" against anyone who is not Mormon living in "their" communities or seeking employment owned by a Mormon. . . Good point BW... I use to live in Id...

Re: Obama - what does this mean?
But what actual achievements does Obama have that gives people such confidence? What makes him really qualified to act as president of the US, to act in a position considered by many to be the most powerful in the world? y:-? So far, only the ability to put a few English words together more intelli...

Re: Struggling with the Old Testament
No, just those who have faith in Christ (Galations 3:13-14, 28-29). Romans 3:29-30. The Old Testament believers looked forward in faith to the comming Messiah, we now look back in faith. Show me Biblically where it says that they have lost their inheritance after Jesus' ressurection. The Isrealites...

Re: Human "souls"
Isn't to believe in an afterlife believing in substance duelism? There are many other religions that believe that a person has a soul. Unless you believe in reincarnation, or the atheist. In Ecclesiastes 12:7 we read when we die, "the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit ret...
