Re: RTB: Serious Problems with Evolution
We're in agreement on most of that. However -- it Does matter how long the process of creation took. There's a verse that says that to God one day is a thousand years and a thousand days is like a day. And that's where the Long days of creation come in for lots of people. God created 'time' for Our ...

Re: RTB: Serious Problems with Evolution
A question -- why do you attach the 10 billion-plus years time period on all of it? Because That gives room for everything to have developed from a mass of primordial soup to where we are Now. The Big Bang taking place Could be God creating the universe and everything - just as Genesis says it happe...

Re: RTB: Serious Problems with Evolution
Yes, there's definitely a conflict between creation and evolution. Evolution is a huge subject. As is creation. There are Lots of folk who don't want to be subject to a creator. Will admit to not being familiar with the Scopes' Monkey Trial. But I've taken part in a few discussions regarding creatio...

Re: Understanding the Trinity
Mysticism is something I've heard about, but don't really know much about. But it sounds like of 'way out there'. If I may ask what denomination she identifies with. You said she's about 53, so she's got some life experience to relate back to. And probably very set in her ways. And, you're right -- ...

Re: Understanding the Trinity
I think that churches can run into problems when they allow most everyone into membership without Really questioning them as to their salvation. And what they believe doctrinally compared to what the church teaches. And, these days, the Praise and Worship leaders / team. And to the neglect of the ol...

Re: Understanding the Trinity
I feel kind of sorry for the guy -- he was having somewhat of an adult temper tantrum over at the other Forum. One of the moderators over there was questioning him as to why he refused to respond to my question as to how a person can get saved. Said he has no use for OSAS or for salvation by grace a...

Re: Understanding the Trinity
Hi -- I've been reading through this thread with great interest. Especially because 'goingsouth' on This forum is "trump-it' on another Forum I've been on. I've been trying to talk with him on This subject as well as the 'antichrist' over There. He's a self-studier and is out to convince the re...

Re: Understanding the Trinity
The Godhead consists of God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:18 - 20
It's through the trinity / Godhead/ that salvation is made possible.

Re: Matthew 9:9
I think it is good to get people's attention to draw them into the message. This can be done many ways and humor is a good way.I think some ministers can be boring even if they are preaching the truth.Jesus certianly did things to get peoples attention to draw people in to the message and we can do ...

Re: RTB: Serious Problems with Evolution
Audacity: Einstein could never have come up with his theories of relativity if he hadn't disagreed with Newton. But Einstein also admited that his previous view of a Godless universe in a "Steady State" was his worst blunder. Course, that doesn't mean his view of God was the same as is a ...

Re: Matthew 9:9
Maybe it's because people don't take church seriously -- is God's Word being taught or is it more politics or human interest topics or current events ,etc. from the pulpit. Why people laugh in response? Sometimes it's because they can't believe the pastor is actually saying 'that'. I've heard curse ...

Re: Didn't Adam and Eve both sin?
Looking at Genesis 3 -- the serpent was talking with Eve in vs 6 and she ate of the fruit and then vs 7 she gave some to Adam and then he ate and then their eyes were opened. They faced God together for their sin. Listening to the serpent instead of believing God.

Re: Gluttony & envy
People eat for different reasons. If we are hungry -- mad -- depressed -- bored -- emotional. If our eating is the only thing we feel we have control of. Instead of turning to drugs, alcohol -- they turn to food.
