Re: Christians: Would you be pro-gay if you weren't a christian?

Rick: Jesus found no one to judge the woman caught in adultery, because they all had sinned.

The point Rick is making is true. But I'd be very careful of using the Adulteri passage to make it - as it is likely not Scriptural.

Re: Should I claim to be a Catholic?

Ice: What you explained is a prayer - talking with God. I am doing it... Ice, that is great! Be honest, sincere, seek with a desire to truly know the Truth. If you do, He'll eventually show you - perhaps sooner than later, yet, in His ways, in His timing. Just don't put your own demands or expectat...

Re: Christians: Would you be pro-gay if you weren't a christian?

This is true: whether Sin A, B, C or Z - they are all sin. And we all have "letters" of the alphabet correlating to our favorite sins. Just don't ever try to justify ANY of them by asserting "God made me this way, and so my inclinations for whatever sin are perfectly okay and natural....

Re: Was the Emperor Constantine TRULY a Christian?

ES, I didn't mean for this to turn into a Catholic vs. Protestant thing. I am your Christian brother, even if I do not agree with key Catholic dogma. It's not a matter of "my way or the highway," but that Scriptures have a specific meaning and aren't meant to be viewed in the light of chur...

Re: Was the Emperor Constantine TRULY a Christian?

Essential: your disrespectful tone for another Christian's faith is seriously flawed scripturally ... Um, I sincerely hope you are not using the term's Catholic faith and Christian faith interchangeably. That would also go for Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, whatever. Whenever and wherever people ...

Re: Was the Emperor Constantine TRULY a Christian?

Essential, I was merely referring to the fact that Scripture teaches some key things about how the Church is to be run, and by whom, that does not once state Peter is to be in charge of it. Same with the Mary stuff. It matters not one bit what some list of popes includes - it matters what Scripture ...

Re: 'Sister Wives' and polygamy

Polygamy is anti Christian? It isn't recommended or encouraged (but was granted by Him because of human stubbornness and He had to see the good that CAN come from it must outweigh the negative). But show me where this is biblically wrong? And then damn most the OT kings. The question, for US, is no...

Re: Was the Emperor Constantine TRULY a Christian?

Yes, of COURSE catholic.com considers Peter the first pope. But that is to be found nowhere in the New Testament - which Paul wrote the majority of, who PAUL chastises and corrects Peter siding with the Judaizers, and in which no specifics stating such are to be found in Scripture - unless one wants...

Re: What happened when Jesus was crucified?

The Jewish priests and other leaders, on the other hand, didn't believe for a moment that he was the son of God (it was probably impossible in their minds for God to have a son, especially a human one of humble birth) and it was suggested that he did miracles by the devil's power; they especially d...

Re: Was the Emperor Constantine TRULY a Christian?

haven't read in to all this but here, philip, you, i think, have made a mistake ... there were some 30 or more popes before the reign of Constantine. Constantine did have great influence over some of the properties of Christianity, but his influence began some 300 years after the Christian religion...

Was the Emperor Constantine TRULY a Christian?

History states that the Roman Emperor Constantine converted from paganism/polytheism to Christianity, that he supposedly adopted the Christian faith of his mother. True? Highly unlikely, given the evidences. In 313, Constantine developed the Edict of Milan – which stopped Christian persecution and a...

Re: What happened when Jesus was crucified?

Nicki: Until the 300s AD the Romans were very unsympathetic towards Christians - this only changed during that century when the Roman emperor became a Christian. I would seriously question whether or not the emperor actually ever TRULY became a Christian, or whether he instead realized a merging of...
