Re: Humans cause yeast to become multicellular, a threat to
Seems a bit unfair to reject what someone has to say because of the format it is in. Yes, it is. That's why some people will make an emotional appeal, knowing they can convince some people with emotion whereas more logical people will ignore (but be annoyed by) the emotion and look at the facts. Bu...

Re: Humans cause yeast to become multicellular, a threat to
The one objection that I would agree with would be that yeast cells have been known to clump together before this, so it's not a novel characteristics, really. What you are selecting for is merely the ability to clump. You aren't seeing solely unicellular organisms with novel abilities. I would be v...

Re: When to give up on naturalistic explanations?
Right, my only point is that at this moment any science abotu the origins and the past will have to rest upon leaps of faith...it *did* happen that way....but we can't be certain.... I'm not saying to give up on explanations...although I doutb we can ever know for certain. I'm one that wavers betwee...

Re: Question about "Darwin's tubercle"
But at the very heart of the matter, there is a leap that one has to make. You have this record (that is incomplete) and in a time scale that is inconceivable. Meanwhile, we are working with minuscule changes in ridiculously small amounts of time compared to the record. Just, at the end of the day, ...

Re: Question about "Darwin's tubercle"
Vetigial organs would be a prime example of selection, but it does not show the development of new structures. So as support for selection, it's great. I don't think it's the best to show macroevolution. Those structures that are not needed for survival or reproduction are prone to selection. If the...

Re: Question about "Darwin's tubercle"
The whole "more evolved" or 'less evolved", especially with regards to skin pigmentation, is not accurate. With each level of pigmentation, it fits with its environment. For each phenotype we see, according to selection, each has survived, allowed for more reproduction. There is no &q...

Re: Please Introduce Yourself Here
Greetings, I've enjoyed reading the main site and have found it quite helpful in times of doubt. After lurking for a while, I've finally decided to join in discussions when life permits it. I've grown up in a Christian family, but I've only seriously been a Christian for a couple of years now. I'm ...

Sure, but the sources I have read do not include Judaism in the "roots" in the religion.
