Re: John Wesley's theology
Brother August, I would like to clarify, I was concerned, given his arguments, and the definitions from earlier, that neo-x was indeed advocating Pelagianism, and I still am to some extent. **Edit: Just to be clear, I also include Finney and semi-Pelagianism as part of the same question. Pelagianis...

Re: John Wesley's theology
Just a little of Calvin's own commentary. How Calvanists was Calvin? On Isaiah 53:12--"I approve of the ordinary reading, that He alone bore the punishment of many, because on Him was laid the guilt of the whole world. It is evident from other passages, and especially from the fifth chapter of...

Re: Why is the internet so aggressively Atheist?
Anonymity allows people to shed every good and decent thing about their character 'in real life' and become monsters of human beings. Venom seems to flow abundently from people who never feel they need to answer for what they say. I've got some atheist acquaintences who say things that in person wo...

Re: John Wesley's theology
I'd suggest that people who might be sensitive about the term hyper-Calvinist might want to be careful with how they swing the word, Pelegianism around. I was taken to task for some allusions in that direction and once those terms are thrown around and you cease to allow people to define their beli...

Re: John Wesley's theology
No-one is arguing that. Everyone needs faith. The argument in this thread is about how we come to faith, from within ourselves, or with the help of the Spirit. The sidetrack is the extent of propitiation. Actually no. That isn't it at all. I don't know of anyone here who is advocating Pelangianism....

Re: John Wesley's theology
I wanted to get an "outsider" view on predestination and the elect, so I asked an atheist friend of mine and a Jewish friend of mine to take a look at this thread and hare their thoughts. You can well imagine, LOL ! The atheist basically said that IF there was a God and he elected some pe...

Gen. 5:1~This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, "IN THE LIKENESS OF GOD made he him; 2Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. Science only PROVE'S the Bible and more scientist than ...

Re: John Wesley's theology
If you read 2 or 3 or 4 pages back I already spoke about that. Not that you have to agree with it. You may have also missed my answer to you with the 4 points in it. I'm curious to see your response. Also, can you talk us through your understanding about the extent of the propitiation in the Biblic...

Re: John Wesley's theology
Why don't you show that, instead of just asserting? The scriptures are clear, I'm not saying or asserting that, John the apostle is. It says that Jesus is the propitiation of our sins. Nothing more, nothing less. You are saying that more than the elect will be saved. How is that even possible? Look...
