Re: abiogenesis

My basis for faith is on the evidence of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and on fulfilled prophecy from the Old Testament (I do not think that many of the prophecies typically given by apologists are particularly convincing apologetics, but Isaiah 53 and the book of Daniel when considering evidence...

Re: Wealth and Poverty

I think the short book of James has a lot of good things to say on this topic. In addition to several other passages regarding wealth in the book, we read in James 2:1-4 that the body of believers is not to show favoritism to those of wealth. "My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesu...

Re: Is everyone human?

If you believe in an age of accountability, then this might apply to.

I would like to, but frankly, I don't see any biblical evidence for one.

Re: Prayer for my brother

Clo_Ah, I am saying a prayer for you and your family right now. I can only imagine the combination of emotions facing you right now and as a brother in Christ, I am tremendously sorry for everything you're facing. I can tell that you're trying to maintain a biblical perspective here, and that you kn...

Re: 4th of July

It's definitely not an issue I want to be legalistic about - in fact, I'm undecided about a lot of it. I see absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating the 4th and certainly nothing wrong with enjoying the holiday - I still want to catch a fireworks show tomorrow night (I love fireworks) - I just wan...

Re: Literal snake in the Garden of Eden?

One reason that I may be open for it being less literal is the fact that scientifically, snakes did not have legs before humans existed. However, I do not feel comfortable taking biblical passages figuratively unless I have a good reason for doing so, including Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic language rules. I...

4th of July

Recognizing that not everybody on this board is an American, where do you all stand on celebrating the 4th of July? America's independence was a clear violation of Romans 13 (which John MacArthur has acknowledged), so as a Christian, I'm not sure if I want to celebrate it. I have written about this ...

Re: Do all of god's creations go to heaven?

The Bible is clear throughout that eating animals is perfectly fine, contrary to what radical vegetarians want to have you think.

Re: Do all of god's creations go to heaven?

I do not think so, although admittedly the Bible is not explicitly clear on the topic. One verse commonly cited for prove that they do, which is Isaiah 11:6 (And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling toge...

Glenn Morton has another exegesis where he considers the events in Genesis to be creative events. I can't find the link offhand, but I'll look tomorrow night.

Re: believing in Christ

YLTYLT, your exegesis of 1 Corinthians 3:15 seems to be more accurate than I often see, in that it does seem to pertain specifically to works on behalf of the church and not as an express support of unconditional eternal security. Thank you for your post.

Re: Location of Noah's Local Flood

I do not believe it is up to us to question why God did what he did, but to examine the available evidence to determine what God did, and to go from there. I think the evidence that GMan has posted speaks for itself? I think if we question why God did what he did, He didn't even do what we think He...

I haven't heard of it. What does the book deal with, and what is the main thrust of his general argument?
