Re: Are You Are Skeptic or In Denial?

... So the dirty little truth is that even atheists believe and are forced to accept things that cannot be proven or seen, and yes it is faith,so cringe atheists because you possess faith far more than a Christian does because it does not require much faith to believe God can do miracles and create ...

Re: Are You Are Skeptic or In Denial?

Many who do not believe in God think themselves just being a good skeptic. Many such persons will often say there is no evidence or proof for God's existence, you may even come across such statements in discussions. Yet, I always immediately disagree with those who'd say there is no evidence for Go...

Re: The meaning of immaterial life

Well... My original topic title "The meaning of immaterial life" might be wrong. Since 'meaning of' in a material universe is somewhat a contradiction. It should have better been "The purpose of immaterial life".

Re: The meaning of immaterial life

What is "meaning", and by that I mean an "ultimate meaning"? What properties does ultimate meaning have? Once one understands and/or agrees about what ultimate meaning is, then whether particular worldviews have it can be more easily discussed. I will say here, that it is largel...

Re: The meaning of immaterial life

One aspect that keeps popping up is that according to some in a materialistic universe life has little or no meaning, or is useless. That in such a universe there cannot be love or empathy, for those are immaterial aspects of life. And since immaterial does not exist in a materialistic universe, lo...

Re: Nature of Reality: A Challenge to Atheists

Trying to explain the as yet non-understandable to what seems the most plausible, without having the knowledge to the (one and only) truth, will yield in explanations that mimic the understanding of the non-understandable to it's best educated guess. One such thing is trying to explain our universe ...

Re: Why I am not an Atheist

JH, can you explain why would "incorporeal" and "spiritual" would be considered immaterial ? ;) Quite simply, if something isn't "material" than it is "immaterial". We could say math is non-physical, yet then, some might like to say math is part of the physic...

Re: Why I am not an Atheist

To describe words and math and the like as immaterial is in my opinion wrong. Ghosts, spirit, soul, God, they are immaterial, and in their sense 'physically real'. Tangible, even in their immaterial form. .... I do not like the term immaterial because math isn't immaterial. Of course math is immate...

Re: Why I am not an Atheist

No. That's why I wrote earlier we actually might mean the same, but interprete eachothers explanations differently. Intellectually unwillingly or subconciously willingly. Take for example language. Before humans developed their individual language those actual languages didn't exist in their 'physi...

Re: Why I am not an Atheist

So again; where does math exist? Also, who found math, and where was it first found? Math doesn't exist in neither a fundamental material or immateriual form. Math is knowledge and can only be brought into physical existence by intelligent beings. When we say math we are speaking of mathematical co...

Re: Why I am not an Atheist

Concepts don't exist like gravity, they only exist within human thought. Are you suggesting math only exist in the context of human thought? Hardly. Math would exist regardless of there being ANY humans at all. That is the point. So again; where does math exist? Also, who found math, and where was ...
