Re: A response to this website

the issues you are bringing here are ones that come here daily. I have my doubts... But theory is not proven scientific fact. You claim you've gotten into this argument before, but I'm wondering how you still don't know what a theory is then... A theory is a collection of data (facts) that explains...

Re: A response to this website

You keep saying Creationism is a God-of-the-Gaps position... I'm telling you, you're wrong. Look over my analogy of the Shakespeare play. You're just repeating your position without really addressing the objections to it. "God of the gaps" sounds completely stupid to a Christian. God is the God of ...

Re: A response to this website

I'm seeing some serious misunderstandings going on here... 1.Agnostic is not some place in between theist and atheist. It is the stance most people would take (accepting the existence of god is unknowable or unknown). I am considered to be an agnostic atheist. 2.To "Evolution is just an unproven th...

Re: A response to this website

Now, I've skimmed through most of this site for quite a while. But I'm just deciding I wanted to point out some serious issues with at least the first part(s) for now. Here are the two main issues I have with statements made in the introductory article. If I am in the mood, I'll continue through. 1...

Consistency of the Bible?

I need some help, I've always thought the Bible was perfect and all that, irrefutable and consistent, but I decided to check out what atheists say about the topic, for the sake of being openminded. I'm seeing "lists of over 700 inconsistencies in the Bible," some of which really got me thinking, i.e...

Christianity and Self-Defense

I've always felt a sense of reconciliation with my self-defense experience and my faith in God, but sometimes when I hear verses such as "turn the other cheek" and "if you love this life you shall lose it," I am not so sure, the last one is a big problem for me, does it mean perhaps if my life is in...

Re: Something I desperately need to know...

Hey there new to God and science, but I'm going to get to the point quick. I want to know where I could go to learn more about science in general, what books, what things I need to learn. I can't go around trying to preach the word, saying there is a scientific fact behind God, and my only knowledg...

Re: What do you think God did before creating our universe?

Here's a fun little question. I imagine all answers would have to be purely speculative since there is no answer based only on scripture. What do you think (or rather imagine) God did for pre-eternity before creating our universe? Has he created, sustained, and destroyed an infinite number of previ...

Re: God's Silence

Does anyone have any idea why God doesn't speak to people? Many people from different religions claim that God answers their prayers indirectly but why wouldn't God give a direct answer in a vision or diologue? In the Old Testament He did such things because no one could know Him personally, so HE ...

Re: Genetics and Homosexuality: Are People Born Gay?

It doesn't really matter whether homosexuality is a choice or a genetic aspect of homo sapiens, saying that the fact that it's a genetic aspect justifies it makes as little sense as saying that the fact that someone is a compulsive murderer who was born sadistic is justified in his acts of violence....

Re: Homosexuality

If homosexuality is a choice this would mean god is just. If it is not a choice god applys to strict calvanist principles and is unjust. But what I do not understand is how it can be a choice when people kill themselves over being gay, I mean if they want to be straight could they no just choose to...

Re: Morality Without God?

I'd say thats a rather solid response to the problem of evil. :esmile: Although, in response to the first point about absolutes like logic, I think Atheists would say that there is no absolute morality, but there is still an absolute external reality where things like physical laws exist that a fun...

Re: Apologetics not evidenceof anything?

In a debate with an atheist, i linked tgis site to him. He immediately dismissed apologetics entirely. It seemed to me like tge only thing he would accept is a literal interpretation of the bible. How can you dismiss apologetics, tgen claim a default victory? Yeah I agree with everyone else here, h...

Re: Morality Without God?

Trying to argue that objective morality exists without a moral God is futile. If Atheism and Metaphysical Naturalism are true, then Nihilism is true no matter which way you slice it. However, from what I've seen, the more sensible of the "moral" Atheists who have actually given thought to the matte...
