Re: An earlier date for the Gospel of John

I think that John testified and wrote the "core" of the GOJ and I think that the version we have is the final draft passed on by his disciples.

Re: Anybody read Believe Me?

I don't know any Christian that is a fan of Trump. In 2016 Trump got 81% of the evangelical vote. That said, he doesn't attack Christians like other candidates do. I don't understand this claim. What attacks are you talking about? Maybe there is a lesson there for democrats ? Fea actually makes the...

Re: Anybody read Believe Me?

Like I said I (me personally) don't know any Christians that are a fan of Trump.
I guess there are some, I just don't know any.
I know some that agree with certain polices ( pro-life) and some that view him as a "lesser of two evils".
None of that equates to being a fan.

Re: An earlier date for the Gospel of John

Ehrman is not the only one that questions the authorship of John. That said, we must never forget that John did NOT write the GOJ, the writer(s) are anonymous and the gospel says so at the very end. The GOJ was written by those that John passed on his testimony to. The issue with dating revelations ...

Re: An earlier date for the Gospel of John

Well, did John write revelations Before or after The Gospel?

Add to that the fact that the GOJ was not written BY John, but by his followers, then the question isn't just when John passed it on but also when they wrote it down.

Re: An earlier date for the Gospel of John

If one believes that Revelations and the GOJ are from the same author, one must take THAT into account as well.

Re: The Solution: Bring down the government and institutions?

Sometimes, something is so beyond repair that there is no way to fix it and it is best to start over, from nothing. The problem with that is WHO decides that? WHO decides HOW to start over? WHO decides the RULES of starting over? When you see the MEANS by which these people want the END, you realize...

Re: Forgiveness without repentance?

One of the hardest things for us to do is to "let it go". Christ said to give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and to give unto Satan what is Satan's. Not even God can stop people from being bad, can stop people from believing what they want, regardless of what is present to them. Free Will. Remember, t...

Re: Forgiveness without repentance?

Forgiveness is, in some ways, a gift we give ourselves. When we forgive another for a wrong they have done us, we release OURSELVES from carrying around the emotional baggage of what they have done. Only forgiveness starts the healing process. It's the hardest thing to do BUT the one thing we MUST d...

Re: Anyone else horrified?

Just a personal note about the "pull out method". Because my wife can't be on the pill and I am allergic to spermicide and latex, that was our on;y method of BC for 22 years. Not once did she get pregnant by accident. We have two beautiful girls, 16 and 12, or I should say turning 17 and 13. We lost...

Re: You guys ready for the coronavirus?

It will get worse before it gets better.
The "incubation" period is the main problem.
When it spreads, it spreads like wildfire.
The reason the Koreans were able to deal with it so well was they did NOT hesitate in isolation and quarantine methods done ASAP.

Re: Immigration reform (for Byblos)

The GOP would never go for that, Paul. They're in the minority on the most important issues of the day. If there were national referendums on gun control, overturning Roe v Wade, marriage equality, universal healthcare, protecting the environment, and addressing climate change, just to name a few, ...
