Thank you for the response. Why must this concern you so much? Why must this concern me so much? That's a strange question. This is a point in which I imagine many believers and unbelievers have struggled to grasp. The Gospels are full of eye witness accounts of His teaching by example, and we read...

I've been having doubts about why the name and belief in Jesus will save one from the punishment of his sins. Of course, it's rooted in logic to suppose that without such a thing we would all fall short of the mark of perfection. If a man lived each of his days and killed a person each day for his e...

Re: Why Didn't Jesus Write?

. More serious answer, Jesus active ministry was only about 3 years. His Why was this anyway? Why three years? I've read wild theories about the missing 18 years but it all remains very vague. It's interesting to consider the amount of time someone like Billy Graham has invested in preaching what J...

Actually I find it kind of neat that he didn't write it all down for us... It would kind of make God more dogmatic for me in that approuch.. In other words there is a sense of trust that God has with us to let us write it all down... :P G - Please don't misunderstand my post and think that I'm mock...

Why Didn't Jesus Write?

Why didn't He? He could read well so I think the assumption lends itself to believing that He could also write well. Why is it that Jesus never wrote things down himself about His ministry? If I were to go about spreading some important information (possibly a matter of eternal consequence) I'd make...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=arRWrDeU4RU&mode=related&search= Some really great theological discussion here between a defender of the Qur'an and of the Bible. There's nothing more that I love than thinking about these issues. I cannot thank people enough on this site for the patience in answering my ...

Re: Discussing Religion with Family

I've been told that Joseph was planning to leave Mary ('put her away privily') to protect Mary from shame and take it on himself (people would assume they would've had premarital sex). He was indeed a kind man...and he must have loved Mary. Did you see that show kind of recently on TV about Jesus' ...

Thanks for the excellent links and posts everyone. I've read through them and appreciate them. FCC, I have a hard time fully believing that Jesus was God simply through fulfilled prophecy. I'm afraid when it comes to this I sort of become one of those who doubt Jesus' own claims as are recorded in t...

Consciousness / Soul

My apologies if this thread has been once before.

In a biblical light, is consciousness the soul, or is it simply a receptor of it?

Has modern science claimed that consciousness dies along with the cessation of the brain's activity? If they do discover this, what will it mean to our faith?

Have any of you ever encountered a person who claims that they're not afraid of Hell if it does turn out to be real? I speak with many atheists who live the "party life" who boldly claim that they would much rather be in Hell than Heaven if the two even exist. I am often speechless after such a clai...

Re: The Koran / Bible

Then I apologize for jumping to conclusions. You didn't exactly reply to my other post. You didn't jump, it was my mistake on all accounts for not lending enough information about my own personal stance in each topic. First, I did not call you insane, I just found it odd, that's all. My first impre...

Re: The Koran / Bible

So let me get this straight, you've effectively renounced catholicism without even attempting to understand it but you find truth in Islam? Okie Dokie, I think I get it. I never renounced catholicism, I simply pointed out some things which seemed contradictory to what I had read within the Bible. I...

The Koran / Bible

I've finally been able to attain the Koran from my library. I had been waiting to read it so that I could gain more knowledge about it and perhaps gain some wisdom and hopefully put an end to my false notions of what it was as a religion. I've only read up to the third Surah at this point but I am h...

Re: Reply...

Yes, I've heard of a few that did live their lives completely devoid of sex or lust. In fact, they became devout monks, totally focused on Christ and prayer, shunning society, technology, even family and friends. The questions then become: 1) Can anyone of us do that? The answer, I think we'll all ...
