Re: Atheism: Belief or Position?

Atheism: 1. the doctrine or belief that there is no God. 2. disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings. They both mean the same thing. If one disbelieves in God, then one believes there is no God. Therefore atheism is a belief. Right. What's your source? Because I've provided a differe...

Re: Atheism: Belief or Position?

I was reading your post and then noticed your signature. Is that what is in you signature just an opinion or a claim? It sounds like a claim. Good catch! :) The first part of my signature contains a definition (a reference, not a claim). The second part of my signature is a play on words, but even ...

Fundamentals of Science

Hey all, it seems that a lot of people have a misunderstanding of the fundamentals of science. I lay blame for this entirely on the education system. I know I was shocked at the inaccuracy of my "science education" when I got out of high school. First of all, I would like to present some terminology...

If you take truth out of your post, I agree completely.

Re: A Public Apology

I thought this would be relevant here: You just want to pick an argument to ram. Just being the contrarian for the sake of it. You are holding others to your feelings, this won't get you anything. For ne this is becoming pointless. You say you came here to learn but your actions betray your words. Y...

Re: What would God say if he came here and why.

hmmm??? You said this: I expect God wouldn't say anything. Language is a very crude tool, and I'd expect better of him.... Let's look Rom 1:19, "because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are cl...

Re: Religion vs. Science?

Actually, love does bear all things, including leaving an abusive spouse. You can't decide for YOURSELF what something means to YOU and then decide that must mean the same thing for everyone. To bear all things means to deal with all that life hands you with love, not hate, not anger, not anything ...

Re: Religion vs. Science?

Well, I thought I was clear, but let me rephrase.

I do not credit my experience as a reliable method of determining objective truth, and I hope no one else does either.

Re: What would God say if he came here and why.

Hey Dan, I'm tempted to just reject your question, First of all, because you didn't define God. There are hundreds of thousands of gods, and thousands of variants of God. That makes it nearly impossible to properly answer the question, but I'll try. My assumption of the properties of God, which form...

Re: Religion vs. Science?

Don't claim, prove! Okay, sure. 1 Corinthians 13:7 starts with "Love bears all things..." So you have no justification to claim you are both loving (bearing all things the abusive controlling things the spouse does), and leaving (not bearing all things the abusive controlling things the spouse does...

Re: Atheism: Belief or Position?

This just sounds like a game of semantics, if I say my opinion that God is real then really I am saying I believe it is true. Every truth becomes an opinion if we look at it in the way of opinion, everything is subjected to the individual's opinion. It's a bit of a cop out really if everyone claims...

Re: Basis for belief?

He is saying imagine if God loved us the way you love (or lack there of) your Father, we would be in quite a pickle. Thanks for clearing things up Dan! I don't believe God exists, so it is really easy for me to imagine him loving like I do (in the case of my father, not loving). Yeah, we'd be in qu...
