Re: HELLoween... stupid!!!

One could argue that, in taking a pagan tradition and "christianizing" it is a good thing. But Halloween has never been Christianized. Easter is about the resurrection of Christ and Christmas is about his birth; these have replaced the original pagan traditions behind these holidays. But ...

Back to the Bible

Back to the Bible produces daily Bible studies which are available on this site and are also broadcast on the radio. I became a Christian as a result of listening to their radio programs and I have learned much about the Bible from them since then. http://www.backtothebible.org/ http://www.backtothe...

Lazarus and the rich man – parable or actual event?

In Luke 16:19-31 Jesus tells the story of a rich man and a beggar named Lazarus and describes how they lived in this life and what their circumstances were after they died. There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a...

Have you asked your sister about the boy?

I will pray for your sister and I will also ask God to give you the wisdom to know what you should do about this situation.

Re: An ID issue I have

Adam and Eve disobeyed God and their sin brought death into the world. This affected not only humans but animal life. As a result some species of animals now are harmful to others.

Re: Theory of Evolution exposed

In a nutshell, evolution predicts that, if a living organism is exposed to changes in it's environment, it will adapt to survive. The variety of species with "enough in common with each other" is what would be the case if evolution is correct. This is also what would be true if the Bible'...

Our eternal destiny

It is a common belief among Christians that when a person dies he immediately goes either to heaven or to hell and remains there for all eternity. A careful study of the Bible shows that this is not correct, although it is very close to the truth. When someone who has been forgiven thru faith in Chr...

How long were the days?

One issue that people disagree over is how long the six days of creation were. Some people think they were literal 24 hour days and some think that they were merely long time periods of indefinite length. Which side is correct? Is it even possible that both views are wrong? Sometimes the word “day” ...

When did the creation take place?

How long ago did the six day creation take place? The traditional date of about 4,000 BC is arrived at by studying the genealogies in the Bible to determine how much time has elapsed. But this method assumes that the genealogies are complete and every generation is included. But is this really the c...

Re: Theory of Evolution exposed

The only reason creationists have bothered to attack only one position in science (evolution) is because it deals with the history of the universe and the life it contains. But exactly the same system of observation, logic, inference, and experimental generation of knowledge that leads us to evolut...

Re: Creation – what does the Bible actually say?

RickD wrote:No, it plainly says, six "yoms". What's not so plain, is the length of those "yoms".
Each "yom" consists of an evening and a morning, so the length of each one is the time is takes the earth to rotate on it's axis.

Who makes the choice?

There are many doctrinal divisions among Christians. For example, some believe that human beings repent and believe because God causes them to do so by choosing them to be saved while some believe that people believe and are saved because they choose to do so. What does the Bible say about this? I c...

Re: Creation – what does the Bible actually say?

Have you read my thread of John Walton's view on Genesis? Yes First and foremost, says Walton, we have to approach Genesis for what it is, which is an ancient text. I agree with that. But what is the subject of this text? The obvious answer is that it is a historical record of how everything began....

Washed and Waiting: the autobiography of a gay Christian

What is it like to be a Christian who believes the Bible’s teaching that homosexual activity is a sin and who realizes that he is sexually attracted to others of his sex? Wesley Hill knows the answer to that question. He decided that the only way he could be obedient to the Bible was to live a life ...
