Re: Atheistic Hatred
What exactly is the "atheist moral system" and where did it co me from? I have the fall back that some god may have given me the moral capacity I have, but I'll also answer your question. There's a lot of rational reasons to be moral, as well as some natural tendencies to do so. The golde...

Re: Atheistic Hatred
I would warn you not to judge the morals of others as no moral system is implied through atheism. In my case, I am a moral realist (or objectivist) and I treat my actions and ethics very seriously - I can observe that my actions have demonstrable harm and ascribe negative value to such harm. I may ...

Re: Several questions concerning the fall and evil
I'll try and get back to it then. I do get it when atheists complain about suffering and why there seems to be so much of it. At least they think there is too much, as opposed to the theist who can argue that it can always be worse. Here's the kicker though Paul, on an atheistic worldview what exact...

Re: Where do you guys stand?
I appreciate your responses. You would say my version of ethics is incorrect since it allows for clearly unethical practices such as homosexuality and wicked fantasies and goes against the intrinsic order of things. I say yours is too restrictive since I don't personally agree, and think both of tho...

Re: Several questions concerning the fall and evil
You need to re-read my post, the issue is the suffering of others. Animals do NOT show compassion or acknowledge suffering in others. But that's not true. Mothers defend their children, animals defend each other. Look, here's a video of a dog saving another dog from harm: http://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: Where do you guys stand?
No, I'm not trying to say that unethical = unhealthy. The relationship between those two is the same as the relationship between evil and harm. What is evil is usually harmful; being harmful is not what makes it evil. Likewise, what is evil is usually unhealthy; being unhealthy is not what makes it...

Re: Where do you guys stand?
One thing I think is interesting is that playing violent video games has a proven link to increases aggressive behaviour, one could say that it is evidence of causation in terms of fantasising. Dan I actually thought that that was not proven at all. Please provide a source if you have seen otherwis...

Re: Where do you guys stand?
There might be other factors at play other that porn legalisation, but the fact remains that the majority of offenders fantasise before their action. Dan But the majority of non-offenders might also fantasize before their non-action. If it isn't causative of anything, what is it to anyone? And who ...

Re: Where do you guys stand?
Also: Since our fantasies are fictitious and only have representations of others at best, is it morally acceptable by Christian standards for a fantasy to involve a member of the same sex, a very young child, etc.? After all, the fantasy is only imagined and will not necessarily be acted upon, so m...
