Re: Here is some more atheist propaganda to refute...

The biggest issue is always gonna be the science and physics is adamant that, for everything there MUST be a cause. That is true to a certain point. One thing you have to understand is that the cause-effect relationship is also time dependant. Effect is the future of a cause explained in very simpl...

Re: Who are we to judge homosexuality/others?

Honestly, I don't think you will ever get any orthodox religion to condone homosexuality, it just goes against TOO Many orthodox teaching with NO way to find anything "for it". Maybe you can TWIST what Paul said in regards to "there is no male or female"...bu that is a HUGE twis...

Re: Common Agnostic and Atheist Objection to the Bible

As for the Psalm about smashing babies (it's rather infamous), I always took that to simply be a lamentation of hopelessness when looked at in context. Doesn't that make a lot more sense than treating it as a literal command to smash children?

Re: Who are we to judge homosexuality/others?

I feel like this is exactly why I am so partial to the Catholic Chruch (which I was raised in). They have the ability to build upon, and in some respects even revise, the scriptures of old through the papacy . Some parts of catholicism have even jumped the gun, so to speak, and already fully accept...

Re: Several questions concerning the fall and evil

You don't really understand what you are talking about, MAG. I know you think you do, but you don't. I used to be an atheist pretty much like you, with many of the same arguments, and so I understand more than you think. You don't sound smart, either. You come across as angry, closed-minded and una...

Re: Response to Atheist Rally

The third alternative is that the Universe could have always been there. Or maybe the Universe is a simulation on a higher dimensional hypercomputer and we're all in the matrix. Or maybe we're the product of a dream of some super-powerful space demon. I don't know! We can only work with what we hav...

Re: Response to Atheist Rally

Thanks, Beanybag. I think I get it now. You are an agnostic concerning the God of the great monotheisms, but have a much more positively disbelief in many other Gods (like Apollo). Is that correct? And, yes, I am quite aware of the etymology of "gnostic." I believe the English form of the...

Re: Response to Atheist Rally

Beanybag, I don't quite understand how we are appearing "silly" by challenging your definitions. It isn't as though we're going by a "theist" definition of atheism (whatever that would be). Atheism and agnosticism are generally considered to be two separate things, and not just ...

Re: Who are we to judge homosexuality/others?

Some say that no person is truly homo or hetro, but Bi, I don't know how true that is but I have my doubts. I'd say brain studies (where they examine sexual activity in the brain in response to certain stimuli) would deem this pretty inaccurate, mono-sexuality certainly exists. Although, heightened...

Re: Several questions concerning the fall and evil

Haha. It's a good point. Even if God appeared before me and commanded me to obey him, I might doubt myself as having gone a little loony. Skeptics gonna skept, yo (???).

Re: Response to Atheist Rally

Again, argue with my definitions if you'd like, but you will (and do) just appear silly. These definitions might be what theists believe them to mean, but a more refined distinction is necessary among atheists - gnostic atheists make the positive denial of the existence of all gods. Agnostic atheist...

Re: Response to Atheist Rally

The first sentence in each of these replies was factually wrong. I shouldn't think this is too difficult now, I'll help to give some perspective. Beanybag, what do you mean when you say that unbelief requires no faith? It seems to me that it would require a lot. What do you mean, "no faith"...
