Why not watch Harry Potter? Ok, it got sorcery, which is a sin, but murder is also a sin. Should we stop watching action movies and mystery? It is a difference between watching a movie where a sin is committed and doing the sin yourself.

I admire your attitude. God might want you to spend the money on more useful/charitable things than that 500$ lamp, still I do not think it is a sin too buy that lamp.
I do not think that wealth is a sin, but rather too not be willing to give up your wealth for Christ, that is a sin.
