Sorry to keep you hanging Roy... I didn't forget our conversation, I've been a bit bogged down with a few other things lately.. No prob, as you see I'm in the same boat. Yes, perhaps we can learn from them. Maybe they spend so much time living a lifestyle so like that which the bible condones, that...

Let me first off say that it is a pleasure debating with you, Gman, because of your tact and patience. It is relaxing to get right to the point and not to have to deal with petty arguments. Thank you. Yes, his framework permeates cultures through the stories and examples of his actions. He is our lo...

Re: deceived
I am not deceived  You did not follow the converstaion. PL was referring to the oft-recited criticism that religion is the cause of discontent, wars, etc. The obvious corollary to this is that atheism, being found on the rejection of religion (more specifically, God), should automatically be ...

But for the most part, the people who use cannabis and have been using it do so just as you or I might eat chocolate. First of all, those who use it today are committing a crime, and that in and of itself makes it wicked. I'm sure there are some things in US law that go against the bible. If so, wh...

Re: peaceful atheism
Puritan Lad Exactly right! Especially in light of other threads from obvious atheists here claiming that they are free to do evil whenever they feel an arbitrary injustice!! Don't be decieved; atheism is merely just another guise through which people can exact their own individual will upon others....

The main problem with those who want to legalize it is that they worship it as an idol. They are obsessed with it's use. Legal or illegal, they are practicing wickedness. This is simply not true. You say this because of your own inhibitions, not because of what you have observed. Yes, there are man...

Re: Marijuana and God
Is it right or wrong? I need a more detailed answer than the article on this website thanks. There are many people who have been using cannabis for thousands of years to get closer to god. But there are also many people who feel that a pure and non-toxicated body brings them closer to divine life. ...

You would choose the very real possibility of murder of not only the daughter but also the daughter's other possible children? You would save the one who was not meant to be by sacrificing the three who were?miller wrote:So y'all would choose murder because it is highly probable that the mother would die?

It is interesting. This kind of thing makes me want to go into theological research myself. I am very interested (as well as blessed with skill) in languages. Having tentatively picked up a couple languages already, I know that words just cannot be translated from language to language and mean exac...

Having to quote lines to prove your point only means that you can't find support in the world around you for your cause. This, to me, is a weakness in logic and belief. If you can't relate the bible to the world around you, then it is useless. Rather than quote a line, why don't you relate an exper...

I'm saying that it has been retranslated many times. And that the individual translators have written it with their own idioms, instead of the ones originally written with. This changes the original meaning, even if slightly. You should read this link: http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/bible...

God's truth is the world that we live in. I look to that world to find my answers. But it is difficult because we live percieve only effects on our body, not the actual world we live in. Tell me how the World gives you your Answers? If the Bible is truth why should I not listen to the words of Jesu...

Perhaps if we look for the similarities in everything instead of the differences, then we can agree more. Perhaps, Roy, but at what expence? Perhaps truth? I can agree with the Devil in more areas than I like to admit sometimes but it doesn't make him right. It doesn't impart truth. It just shows w...

I agree with Schwartz's thinking. The way that genetics works allows for a lot of unused information to be stored in the genes, seperated on each end with a gene that marks whether it is 'on' or 'off'. It is definately more likely that evolution occurs with puncuated change, though not entirely dras...

Any ideology has the potential to cause harm. But it is not the ideology at fault, it is the individuals who desire to weild the ideal for their own means (whether consciously or subconsiously realized). When someone desires to maliciously and/or purposefully force someone to think differently witho...
