Re: Ken Ham and Shelby Spong in the same blog post?
I don't like extermissim, never cared for it. Religious people are especially notorious about it and you'd think that history would have taught us the folly of extremissim. I don't understand why the bible, all of it, MUST be taken as literal and concrete when there really is no reason for all if i...

Re: Free thinkers
God tells us "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'. Using the mind requires thinking, last time I checked. Eh. I agree that use of the mind typically involves thinking, but not when your mind is simply being used ...

Re: 2 Kings 2:23-25
It is a case of blaspheme most likely. This would not be the first time God kills over this. Imagine when God first speaks to Moses in the cave. When God asks him to take off his sandles and if Moses curses him instead, Moses would have died. Ussually when one person curses another it does not warr...

I don't actually hate Christians... I just hate people who say I hate America. The coolest thing about America is that... we have this wonderful freedom. We have this wonderful philosophy and ability to critisize our own government. And I know it is worse other places. I never want to live anywhere...

Re: 2 Kings 2:23-25
The account does NOT state that they were a threat to him. They insulted his lack of hair and he cursed them. Not something Christ would condone, do you agree? Before we jump to such quick conclusions we gotta know the whole story. Were these little children as small as we think they are? Is there an...

Re: 2 Kings 2:23-25
If one takes the event as an actual event - one that truly happened and wasn't just a "lesson verse", then one must reconcile their view of God with a God that allows His prophet to call upon the murder of children that were NOT a physical threat to him. The prophet did not call upon the ...

Re: Planet that can hold life found and confirmed
My brother just talked about these books today in bible study... Ah sometimes I think this is how God speaks to people. It has happened to my mother so many times: she reads and studies a verse and BOOM, the verse is expanded upon in some radio talk, bible study, or sermon within a few days. Does a...

Re: Free thinkers
You can be a free thinker as well as a Christian, it's when you assume your intelligence to be so far above that of everyone else where it becomes a problem. Then you start getting the all too characteristic arrogance of atheists. The basic ideas of free thought aren't inherently bad. Echo, my resp...

Echoside, my intent was not to insult you, and I clearly have. I also didn't intend to be dishonest for dishonesty's sake. If I misrepresented you, then it was because I believed something to be true, when it clearly was not. For this, I sincerely apologize. I am experienced in dealing with only th...

Re: Santa Claus and Skeleton nailed to a cross?
If this guys message really was about being anti-materialistic, then set a ton of brand name shopping bags on fire and record that -.- I can see how this is offensive. Why the cross? But I will just turn my cheek and think to myself that the message was to contrast materialism (the dead santa claus...

Re: The Epicurean paradox
Empty Lord I think you are trying to point that it is more moral for God to not allow for the existence of morality itself; for there is no good or bad without free will. Am I wrong?
